Hmong Interpreter

The Two Rivers Public School District is seeking applicants for a part-time Hmong Interpreter to facilitate communication between staff and families. This may include parent meetings, special education meetings, or phone calls home.

Qualified candidates should:

Have a high school diploma.

Have the ability to speak, read and write proficiently in Hmong in order to break linguistic and cultural barriers between families and staff.

Have the ability to shift from one language to another in simultaneous and consecutive mode of interpreting.

Have knowledge of educational terminology or a willingness to learn.

Demonstrate strong communication skills and excellent listening skills.

Demonstrate the ability to multi-task and have effective organizational skills.

Model flexibility and a willingness to take initiative.

Be open to collaboration with teachers and families.
