HMS Assistant Basketball Coach

Hamilton Middle School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our athletic program as an Assistant Basketball Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will support the Head Coach in developing student-athletes' skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting a positive and inclusive environment. This is a seasonal position that requires commitment to the entire basketball season, including practices, games, and team events.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting daily basketball practices and training sessions.
• Help develop game strategies and prepare the team for competitions.
• Provide instruction and feedback to student-athletes to improve their skills and performance.
• Monitor and promote the academic and personal development of team members.
• Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork.
• Assist in organizing team events, including games, tournaments, and community outreach activities.
• Communicate effectively with athletes and school administration regarding team matters.
• Ensure compliance with all school and district policies, as well as relevant league regulations.
• Attend all scheduled practices, games, and team meetings.
• Support the Head Coach in managing team logistics, including equipment and travel arrangements.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience, preferably at the middle school or high school level, is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all team members.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during the season.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
• Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check as required by school district policy.
