The Home Infusion Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the assigned outpatient pharmacy areas’ day to day operations and services. The Home Infusion Pharmacy Manager looks to optimize productivity and efficiency, maximize fiscal gains, minimize loss, improve quality, and achieve excellent pharmacy outcomes.

PGY1 Pharmacy Residency certificate or equivalent years of experience

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential

Manages the operations, workflows, staff members and the pharmacy services provided of the assigned outpatient pharmacy area. Creates systems designed to measure performance and enhance quality of productivity of the pharmacy services offered. Helps prepare/review and/or present reports to demonstrate pharmacy outcomes.

Performs all the principal duties of a Pharmacist-In-Charge. Establish policies and procedure for the department. Reviews policies and procedures at least once a year and revises as required.

Participates in coordination of principal department operations, including committee functions. Serves as a member relevant committees and interacts accordingly with other department heads to solve mutual problems and improve outcomes.

Assists Director level pharmacy leadership in organizing and directing pharmacy operations and personnel for outpatient pharmacy services.

Assists Director level pharmacy leadership in optimization of the financial success of the respective outpatient service line.

Guides, directs, evaluates, and trains pharmacy staff and assumes responsibility for quantity and quality of their work. Completes staff scheduling.

In collaboration with Director level pharmacy leadership, assists in leading pharmacy team members; manages personnel including proposing new positions, recruitment, hiring, overseeing and evaluating performance and/or progressive discipline. Fosters an ideal work environment through the promotion of teamwork, recognition, accountability, professional development and active participation of staff to achieve a purposeful and positive work environment.

Conducts timely annual performance evaluations of pharmacy team.

Works with Director level pharmacy leadership to evaluate areas of opportunity for improvement with current operations as well as help determine areas for future opportunities and implementation of programs for these specific service lines, which may include coordination of marketing.

Assists Director level pharmacy leadership in developing the budget and monitoring appropriate use of budget dollars.

Responsible for assuring coverage or covering shifts when employees are absent or an opening exists, as appropriate.

Provides or coordinates training and education to pharmacists and technicians regarding pharmaceutical care and pharmacoeconomics.

Supports the organization's pharmacoeconomic efforts with regard to pharmaceutical spending. Assures medication usage is best for the populations we serve and both clinically and fiscally responsible.

Works with pharmacy, nursing, and physicians to evaluate all pharmacy systems to assure the best patient care possible. Develops new procedures and policies, implements treatments guidelines and/or protocols to optimize patient care. Evaluates existing procedures for ways of improving processes to optimize quality patient care.

Assures compliance with all standards required by all regulatory agencies including Medicare, MediCal, State, Joint Commission, OSHA, DEA, and State Board of Pharmacy for all outpatient pharmacy service areas. Supports regulatory/accreditation survey process by ensuring ongoing survey readiness and participating in survey activities as the PIC.

Is responsible for controlled substance inventory and state and federal reconciliations and reporting where applicable. Maintains all appropriate records required by federal and state laws and KH procedures.

Oversees human resource related issues for the assigned outpatient area, which can include but not limited to, activities such as: payroll, monitoring sick leave, vacation, and leaves of absence.

Develops and participates in QI studies. Uses the results to suggest changes in practice. Incorporates best practice where feasible.

Assists Director level leadership in maintaining records for pharmacy licenses, staff licenses, certifications and competencies as appropriate.

Enhances professional growth and maintains awareness of current industry trends, legislation, or research which could impact the department and Kaweah Health.

Has 24 hour accountability.

Sets and reviews annual goals with pharmacy leadership and is successful in achieving them.

WHEN ASSIGNED TO WORK AS A CLINICAL PHARMACIST:

Processes and dispenses medication, supplies or equipment orders accurately and efficiently. Follows written policies and procedures regarding medication administration. Consults with other health care providers and information resources to optimize therapy and maximize safety for medication administration for assigned areas. Responsible for answering all inquiries from physicians and other staff regarding medication administration issues. Assures compounded medications meet standards for quality when performing or supervising compounding, performing quality reviews of the finished preparation and completes recordkeeping in accordance with department policy and procedures. Monitors patient's drug and nutritional therapies and maintains their clinical charts with complete and timely documentation. Provides patient specific dosing and monitoring information. Provides consultation and actively participates in patient treatment. Offers cost effective and safe alternatives when appropriate. Fills prescriptions in accordance with federal and state law and in accordance with policies. Patients shall be counseled upon receipt of prescription on the appropriate use, storage and potential adverse reactions.

Pay Range

$78.85 -$118.27
