Job Description

Job Title: Homeless Outreach Case Worker

Duration: Contract 12 Months

Job Mode: On-Site

Pay rate: $28.32/hour on w2 without benefits

Shift hours: 8:00am - 5:30pm

 

Summary:

  • This class is part of the Social Services Case Management Job Family. Incumbents provide social services counseling and assistance to clients in areas such as public assistance, support services, child welfare, medical or psychiatric programs. 
  • Responsibilities may include: conducting home visits; providing information, training and counseling to clients; supervising shelter home residents and preparing services materials.

 

Distinguishing Characteristics:

  • This position is responsible for providing social services assistance to clients through a variety of methods.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides social services counseling and public assistance; assisting in child and family welfare, medical, and psychiatric programs, including: providing assistance in securing economic aid; assisting in securing psychiatric advice; managing protection of children; providing counseling to families; supervising shelter residents; and performing related tasks.
  • Performs home inspections on perspective foster parents, which includes checking home safety equipment; chemical compliance; pet safety and behaviors; prescription lists; access to first aid; alcohol tendencies; and sleeping areas.
  • Conducts foster parent orientation by presenting general information about rules and policies; prepares materials for training and orientation; prepares annual client meeting materials.
  • Maintains documents of caseload information; updates medical records and client database information; and prepares reports outlining casework.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

 

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. and 3 years of related experience.


Required Knowladge:

  • Principles and techniques of managing a social services caseload;
  • Principles and practices of providing social services;
  • Program eligibility requirements of an assigned area;
  • Principles and practices of record retention;
  • Principles and practices of report preparation;
  • Applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, and regulations;
  • Customer service principles;
  • Recordkeeping principles and practices;
  • Modern office practices;
  • Computers and related software applications.
