    Job Description

    The Honors College serves as the academic and administrative home for over 1000 of the top students at Pace University. Part of the responsibilities of the Honors Academic and Success Advisor is the advising of our students across the schools and majors. This includes both academic and personal advisement so that Honors Students can achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals, which helps Pace remain competitive.

    Position Duties

    • Provide advice to your cohort of Honors College students in terms of scheduling, major selection, and satisfactory progress toward degree and Honors College requirements.
    • Provide Honors students a steady stream of information and advising on deadlines; opportunities for jobs, internships, grants, fellowships, study abroad; Honors course offerings and Honors activities.
    • Participate in developing freshmen schedules and in the Orientation sessions over the summer.
    • Interpret and explain Honors College policies, procedures, and requirements to current students, faculty, staff, parents, and prospective students.
    • Listen to and try to resolve Honors students' problems with regard to curricular requirements, adjustment to college, financial difficulties, university regulations, etc.
    • Develop academic and personal plans covering students' time at Pace, including study abroad, internship, extracurricular activities, as well as courses and majors.
    • Provide counseling regarding academic and personal needs, as well as information and guidance to students regarding student support services.
    • Maintain student advisement files on the CRM and DegreeWorks; prepare activity reports and analyses.
    • Monitor students' academic performance, participate in regular academic audits to identify students at-risk of not completing Honors, address OnTrack alerts, and assist in the support and retention of those at-risk students.
    • Attend and help setup/clean up admitted student events and work with prospective and admitted Honors families.
    • Attend Honors thesis presentations and assist as needed with the thesis week in December and May.
    • Work with the departments of the students in your cohort to ensure timely and accurate communication regarding classes, opportunities, program changes, and other situations.
    • Run the Honors Mentoring Program on the Westchester campus. This includes planning and running information sessions, trainings, and events; recruiting mentors; tracking mentoring obligations; generating marking materials; and matching mentees and mentors. Collect feedback and data related to the program.
    • Attend committee meetings when assigned.
    • Take the notes for the Honors First Alert meetings.
    • Attend and help setup/run traditional Honors events (i.e. Welcome Week, Senior Awards Ceremony, etc.).
    • Attend professional development on the New York City campus max two times per year.
    • Performs other such duties as may be assigned from time to time.

    Position Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a related field.
    • 1-2 years of experience working with young adults in an academic setting, especially across disciplines.
    • Extensive computer knowledge; proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet Explorer.
    • Knowledge of SCT Banner preferred.
    • A collaborative spirit and the willingness to work with other staff, faculty, and administrators in the service of students.
    • Ability to work on many projects simultaneously.
    • Highly organized and detail oriented.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • A willingness to be available beyond the regular business hours.
    • Some advisement or higher education experience preferred.

    Work Hours

    Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. in-person, some nights and weekends required for events.
