    HOPE IPV Advocate
    Job Summary
    To provide direct advocacy services for a multidisciplinary, hospital-based, sexual and domestic violence victim‑centric program dedicated to enhancing prevention and intervention services for victims and families experiencing interpersonal violence (IPV), intimate partner violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    The duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other duties may be assigned.
    • Under the direction of the HOPE Program, provide hospital- and community-based services to adult patients within the Chesapeake Regional Healthcare System and local community who have experienced IPV, including assessment, crisis intervention, resource referral, case management, and mental health service referral.
    • Work with hospital and community providers to connect patients to appropriate services, as determined through collaboration with the patient.
    • Assist in administering and tracking the use of crisis funds serving patient and employee victims of IPV, as warranted.
    • Facilitate communication and networking among community service providers to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of direct services to victims.
    • Provide accompaniment for victims of IPV, as requested, within the hospital, criminal justice system, and other systems as needed.
    • Provide ongoing case management and post-discharge follow‑up services for as long as needed and/or requested by the patient.
    • Adjust work hours as needed to address emergent situations.

      • Ability to work collaboratively with service providers, individuals and families experiencing IPV, and community-based providers.
      • Ability to assess mental health service needs, social services, and community referrals, as appropriate.
      • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
      • Must agree to a criminal background check.
      • Dependable transportation required.
      • Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field.
      • Case management experience.
      Preferred Qualifications
      • Experience and training working with the IPV population.
      • Hospital and community-based experience.
      • Knowledge of local IPV community-based resources.
      • NOVA‑credentialed advocate preferred.
      Education and Experience Requirements
      • Minimum Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field
      • Experience: Prior experience as an advocate, social worker, or case manager serving adult populations
