As our Horticulturalist, you'll play a key role in preserving and enhancing Broadmead's natural beauty through innovative landscape design, sustainable land stewardship, resident engagement, and hands-on horticultural expertise.

What You'll Do

As Broadmead's horticultural expert, you will:

• Design, plan, and implement campus beautification and landscaping initiatives
• Create and maintain seasonal flower displays, annual beds, and ornamental plantings
• Diagnose and treat plant diseases, pests, and other horticultural challenges
• Care for trees, shrubs, lawns, gardens, and specialty plantings across the campus
• Support sustainable landscape practices, green roof maintenance, bio-retention ponds, and stormwater management areas
• Maintain and enhance Broadmead's nature trails and outdoor gathering spaces
• Partner with landscape contractors to ensure high-quality grounds maintenance
• Meet with new residents to discuss landscaping around their homes and provide horticultural guidance
• Serve as a resource for residents regarding vegetable gardens, flower gardens, and greenhouse activities
• Lead educational programs and presentations on gardening, sustainability, and landscape stewardship
• Support resident committees, including Trails and Building & Grounds Committees
• Assist with grounds-related budgeting, purchasing, and capital planning initiatives
• Respond to severe weather events and other grounds-related needs as necessary

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Horticulture and at least 5 years of hands-on horticultural experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture
• Spanish language skills

Knowledge & Experience

• Extensive knowledge of plant identification, cultivation, and maintenance
• Experience diagnosing and treating plant diseases and pest issues
• Understanding of sustainable landscape management practices
• Knowledge of green roof installation and maintenance
• Experience selecting and applying fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, and seeds
• Familiarity with grounds equipment operation, maintenance, and repair
• Understanding of OSHA and MOSHA safety standards
• Experience with inventory management, purchasing, and budgeting
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to build positive relationships with residents, families, vendors, and coworkers

Additional Requirements

• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
