Horticulturist | Gardener | Renault Winery & Resort

Summary of the Role

The Horticulturist / Gardener is responsible for the installation, care, and ongoing maintenance of landscaped areas throughout Renault Winery & Resort. This role supports exterior gardens, interior plant displays, seasonal plantings, and edible gardens, while also assisting with holiday décor and collaborating with culinary leadership. The position requires hands-on horticultural expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to schedule and manage a small team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform garden installation and ongoing maintenance across resort grounds
• Conduct regular watering and irrigation oversight
• Implement and manage Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices
• Maintain, care for, and replace interior plants and displays
• Select, plan, and plant spring and summer annuals
• Assist with seasonal and holiday decorating across the property
• Support culinary staff by helping manage the club’s herb and vegetable gardens
• Schedule, train, and manage a small gardening team to ensure timely completion of tasks
• Maintain high standards of appearance, plant health, and safety throughout all landscaped areas

Qualifications

• 2–4 year degree in Horticulture or a related field, or equivalent experience and training in lieu of a degree
• 1–2 years of horticulture, gardening, or landscape-related experience preferred
• Strong ability to work independently and manage internal and external deadlines
• Personable, self-motivated, quality-driven, and passionate about horticulture
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to collaborate across departments in a hospitality or resort environment

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to lift, bend, kneel, and perform physical gardening tasks
• Regular use of hand tools, power tools, and gardening equipment
