We are looking for a passionate and results-driven Hospice Business Development Representative to expand our presence throughout the Sacramento community and develop lasting partnerships with hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, physicians, senior living communities, home health providers, and other healthcare organizations. You’ll work closely with our clinical and operational teams to educate referral partners, identify new opportunities, strengthen community relationships, and help connect more patients and families with the hospice support they need.

As a Business Development Representative, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:

  • Develops and executes a strategic business development plan in partnership with key stakeholders, including territory goals, revenue forecasts, target accounts, referral sources, and strategies to achieve growth objectives. Builds and implements a targeted marketing plan to increase awareness and utilization of Interim HealthCare Hospice services.
  • Expands awareness and demand for Interim HealthCare Hospice by developing and delivering engaging presentations, educational programs, and outreach initiatives to healthcare organizations and community partners throughout the Greater Sacramento area. Identifies opportunities to strengthen the referral process and improve conversion from initial inquiry to admission.
  • Drives sustainable, profitable growth by building, expanding, and maintaining strong relationships with referral sources, healthcare providers, and community partners. Proactively identifies new business opportunities and develops strategies to increase referrals and hospice admissions.
  • Strengthens customer and referral partner loyalty by maintaining regular communication with patients, families, referral sources, and community partners. Uses feedback and satisfaction insights to identify opportunities, address concerns, and continuously improve the overall experience.
  • Partners with the Executive Director/Administrator and interdisciplinary team to establish, monitor, and optimize processes for tracking hospice inquiries, following up with prospective patients and families, and improving conversion from inquiry to admission.
  • Meets with prospective hospice patients and their families to educate them on hospice services, benefits, and available support. Builds trust by understanding their needs, answering questions, and helping families make informed decisions about hospice care with Interim HealthCare Hospice.

A few must-haves for Business Development Representatives:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and professional training.
  • 3+ years of proven experience in sales, business development, or community outreach, preferably in hospice, home health, healthcare, senior care, or another service-based industry. Experience developing referral relationships and growing a territory is highly valued.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to build credibility and effectively communicate with healthcare professionals, referral partners, patients, families, community organizations, and leaders at all levels.
  • Working knowledge of hospice and/or healthcare services, referral networks, and healthcare payors, with an understanding of the factors that influence hospice referrals and patient access to care.
