Supporting Trinity Health Hospice

Ann Arbor area.

As a Chaplain/Spiritual Care Provider, you will offer compassionate spiritual and emotional support to patients, families, and colleagues across our ministry. You'll help people navigate grief, crisis, and significant life changes while honoring their unique beliefs and traditions. As part of the care team, you provide spiritual assessments, document care, collaborate with clinicians, and help create inclusive worship, reflection, and healing opportunities.

What You'll Do

  • Provide respectful, inclusive spiritual care across the care continuum.

  • Assess spiritual and ethical needs and offer appropriate interventions or referrals.

  • Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.

  • Participate as a full member of the interdisciplinary care team.

  • Support programs that enhance colleague well‑being, workplace spirituality, and mission integration.

  • Collaborate with community faith leaders to support worship, prayer, and ritual needs.

  • Promote spiritual‑care education for caregivers and support a culture of compassion.

  • Maintain personal resiliency and ongoing formation.

  • Follow all organizational, legal, and ethical standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Theology, Religion, Spiritual Care/Spirituality, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 1-3 years of Spiritual Care experience, including CPE training; prior chaplaincy/ministry experience preferred.

  • Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) strongly preferred through APC, CASC, NACC, or NAJC, including:

  • Master's degree from a CHEA‑accredited institution

  • 4 ACPE units (1600 hours) of Spiritual Care education

  • Recognized faith‑group endorsement

  • Ability to design and deliver programs that meet diverse spiritual needs.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable with clinical terminology.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and related software.

  • Comfortable with shared leadership and collaborative teamwork.

  • Demonstrated integrity, compassion, and professional presence.
