This is a senior clinical leadership position for someone who understands hospice, knows what survey readiness really means, and can bring structure, accountability, and confidence to a growing clinical team.We are seeking an experienced Clinical Director to serve as the senior clinical authority overseeing hospice clinical operations. This role is primarily office-based and focused on compliance, documentation integrity, audits, staff supervision, IDG leadership, clinical accountability, and overall program quality.Position SummaryThe Clinical Director provides leadership and oversight for hospice clinical services while ensuring compliance with Medicare Conditions of Participation, state regulations, internal standards, and quality expectations.This role protects the integrity of clinical documentation, patient eligibility, Plan of Care accuracy, interdisciplinary coordination, and clinical performance across the program.The ideal candidate is structured, decisive, organized, and confident. We are looking for someone who can hold teams accountable while also building a professional, supported, and high-performing nursing culture.What You Will LeadClinical & Regulatory OversightConduct routine and targeted chart auditsEnsure Plan of Care accuracy, timeliness, and complianceMaintain continuous survey readinessMonitor eligibility documentation, certifications, and recertificationsIdentify documentation gaps and lead corrective actionSupport quality assurance and performance improvement initiativesEnsure clinical practice aligns with Medicare hospice regulations and state requirementsStaff Supervision & DevelopmentProvide direct supervision to RN Case Managers and clinical leadership staffSupport performance evaluations and competency validationOversee clinical orientation and ongoing staff trainingCoach nursing staff on documentation, compliance, workflow, and clinical standardsStrengthen accountability, follow-through, and workflow consistencyHelp build a strong, dependable, and professional clinical teamIDG & Interdisciplinary LeadershipLead structured IDG meetingsEnsure strong collaboration between nursing, social work, chaplain, aide services, and administrationReview complex cases and guide care planningPromote clear communication standards across disciplinesSupport appropriate escalation and resolution of clinical concernsKeep the team focused on patient eligibility, quality care, and documentation accuracySystems & Documentation ManagementEnsure EMR documentation is timely, complete, and compliantMonitor productivity, visit documentation, and workflow timelinesSupport efficient use of hospice software and internal systemsPartner with administration on operational improvementHelp create structure around clinical processes, audits, reporting, and follow-throughRequired QualificationsActive, unencumbered Illinois Registered Nurse licenseBachelor's degree in Nursing requiredMinimum 4 years of hospice experience requiredSupervisory or clinical leadership experience strongly preferredStrong knowledge of Medicare hospice regulations and Conditions of ParticipationExperience conducting chart audits and documentation reviewsEMR proficiency and Microsoft Office skillsStrong organizational, communication, and decision-making skillsAbility to lead with structure, accountability, and professionalismWork EnvironmentPrimarily office-based clinical leadership role in Palatine, ILFocused on compliance, documentation, audits, staff supervision, and clinical operationsParticipation in leadership on-call rotation as neededAbility to assist with patient care when requiredCollaboration with administration, IDG team members, and field cliniciansStrong leadership presence expected within the clinical teamCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive salary: $120,000 - $145,000 annuallyHealth, dental, and vision benefitsPaid time off401(k) optionsMileage reimbursement per policyExecutive-level clinical leadership influenceOpportunity to help shape clinical standards, team structure, and program growthWhy This Role MattersStrong clinical leadership protects the entire hospice program.
