Hospice Music Volunteer

About the Role:
Solace Hospice & Palliative Care Inc. is looking for a compassionate and talented Hospice Music Volunteer to bring comfort and peace to patients and families during life's most meaningful moments. Based in Saint Charles, IL, this is a deeply rewarding opportunity to use the gift of music to make a profound difference in the lives of those in our care. Responsibilities:

• Provide live music performances at the bedside of hospice patients in homes, facilities, or inpatient settings
• Tailor musical selections to the individual preferences, cultural background, and emotional needs of each patient
• Collaborate with the hospice care team to identify patients who may benefit from music therapy visits
• Offer comfort and a calming presence to patients and their families through music
• Document and communicate volunteer visit notes to the care coordination team as needed
• Participate in volunteer orientation, training, and ongoing education sessions
• Maintain professional, compassionate boundaries while building meaningful connections with patients

Requirements:

• Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments and/or vocal performance
• Genuine compassion and sensitivity when working with terminally ill patients and grieving families
• Ability to adapt musical style and volume to the comfort level of each patient
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a consistent volunteer schedule
• Ability to pass a background check and comply with all hospice health and safety requirements
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a calm, comforting demeanor
• Prior experience in hospice, palliative care, or volunteer work is a plus but not required
