    Coverage Areas: Dallas and Surrounding Areas

    Scheduled Hours: Monday 12:01 am - 8:00 am & 4:00 pm - 8:00 am; Tuesday through Thursday 4:00 pm - 8:00 am; Friday 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm; Saturday 8:00 am - 8:00 pm; and Sunday 8:00 am - 11:59 pm.

    Job Summary

    As an ESU RN, your primary mission is to administer high-quality nursing care after normal business hours for clients of all ages in their place of residence. You will triage patient needs, perform after-hours admissions, and coordinate closely with the interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless continuity of care.

    Key Responsibilities

    • After-Hours Care: Administer nursing care to hospice patients in their homes or facilities during evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.
    • Triage & Admission: Determine visit priority through phone or in-person triage and perform admissions to hospice and palliative programs as needed.
    • Clinical Assessment: Assess physical, psychosocial, and environmental needs to develop and implement individualized plans of care.
    • Team Coordination: Communicate effectively with the IDT, physicians, and directors while providing clinical direction to Hospice Aides and LVNs.
    • Standard Compliance: Apply infection control concepts and ensure all care meets the requirements of third-party payors and VNA policies.

    Qualifications

    • Education: Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
    • Licensure: Current Texas State license as a Registered Nurse and a current Texas Driver’s License.
    • Experience: At least one (1) year of experience as an RN in a clinical care setting is required; hospice experience is preferred.
    • Skills: Strong nursing skills based on accepted standards of practice and excellent interpersonal communication.
    • Requirements: Valid Texas Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and current auto liability insurance.
      • Proof of current CPR certification.
      • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
      • Proof of TB testing and Hepatitis consent/declination.

    Working Conditions

    This position involves local travel to visit patients in their homes and facilities in various conditions. You must be comfortable with possible exposure to infectious diseases and unpleasant weather. The role requires prolonged standing, walking, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and the capacity to make quick, resourceful decisions under stressful conditions.
