As a Hospice Registered Nurse, here’s a big-picture view of what you’ll do:

  • Provide home-based care to hospice patients after-hours, weekdays, weekends, and as needs arise

  • Enable patients to spend quality time with loved ones and participating 
  • Work as part of an interdisciplinary team comprised of a physician, LPN, CNA, HHA, social worker, chaplain and volunteers to carry out the patient’s plan of care.
  • Perform patient assessments, check vitals, evaluate breathing, monitor pain, administer prescribed medication and treatments.
  • Ensure accessibility of medical equipment, prescribed oxygen, medication and other supplies
  • Educate family on the patient’s prognosis, changes in care plan, medication and hospice goals.
  • Take a holistic approach to care that engages the patient’s mind, body, spirit and family.

 

A few must-haves for our Hospice Registered Nurses:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • CPR certification
  • Valid car insurance 
  • Prior Hospice experience 1+ years 
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in medical terminology and understanding of Hospice nursing care
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Triaging any emergent needs and collaborating with physicians to provide comfort and quality care to each patient
  • Communicating with medical professionals, the hospice team and others
  • Maintaining accurate, up-to-date records
  • Providing services in accordance with agency policies and regulations that define scope of practice
