Job Title: Hospice Volunteer Coordinator

Job Location: UT Hospice Morristown, TN

Job Type: Full-Time

POSITION SUMMARY: To maintain and coordinate the hospice volunteer program. Responsible for the orientation, training, and coordination for hospice volunteers, volunteer program administration, and volunteer program development.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Plans and supervises delivery of all volunteer services.
  • Assigns volunteers to services based on program needs and the volunteers’ skills and interests.
  • Assesses and monitors record­keeping system that includes services delivered and actual time involved.
  • Recruits, interviews, and selects volunteers.
  • Designs and supervises volunteer orientation and training.
  • Monitors and evaluates volunteers’ performance.
  • Ensures volunteers’ compliance with hospice policies and procedures.
  • Plans and conducts volunteer support meetings.
  • Prepares services reports as required.
  • Facilitates community awareness and support of hospice volunteer program.
  • Maintains relationship with other agency leaders.
  • Attends agency Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings and acts as liaison between volunteers and IDG.
  • Adheres to agency standards and consistently interprets and accurately performs all assigned responsibilities.
  • Complies with agency infection control policies and protocols.
  • Works with IDG concept of patient care.
  • Participates in in-service programs and presents in-services as assigned.
  • Completes agency training program.
  • Other appropriate services and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION:

  • High school diploma required.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a related role preferred.
  • Demonstrated past volunteer experience preferred.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Current Driver’s License, vehicle insurance, and access to a dependable vehicle or public transportation.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

  • Excellent time management and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Acceptance of and adaptability to different social, racial, cultural and religious modes.
  • The ability to work independently while able to collaborate with interdisciplinary team.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The role will supervise agency volunteers as needed.
