Hospital Administrator - Sacramento, CA

VCA Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center is seeking an experienced and driven Hospital Administrator to lead one of the region's most advanced specialty and emergency veterinary hospitals. Working alongside an exceptional team of specialists, emergency clinicians, and leaders, you will help shape the future of patient care, team development, operational excellence, and hospital growth.

About the Role

As Hospital Administrator, you will serve as the operational leader of the hospital, partnering closely with Medical Directors and department leaders to deliver exceptional patient care, develop high-performing teams, and drive business results.

This is an opportunity to lead a complex, fast-paced referral center where your leadership will directly impact Associates, clients, patients, and the veterinary profession.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and develop a large, multi-department team.
• Drive hospital performance through strong financial and operational leadership.
• Build a culture of accountability, engagement, and collaboration.
• Partner with clinical leadership to advance patient care and client experience.
• Recruit, coach, and develop future leaders.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, efficiency, and hospital growth.

Qualifications:

• Proven leadership experience in healthcare, veterinary medicine, or a multi-department service organization.
• Strong business and financial acumen.
• A passion for developing people and building high-performing teams.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and change management skills.
• Specialty, emergency, or referral hospital experience is a plus.

VCA Animal Hospitals offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including Medical/Dental/Vision insurance, 401(k) retirement plan, pet care discounts, paid vacation, holidays and sick days, and health and well-being programs that provide resources and training. Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The annual salary range for this position is $100,000 to $130,000. This position may also be eligible for other variable pay programs.
