Hospital Applications & Operations Support Specialist

Sigma, Inc. is seeking a Hospital Applications & Operations Support Specialist to support Western Massachusetts Hospital – Commonwealth of Massachusetts in Westfield, MA. This onsite contract opportunity is ideal for professionals with experience in healthcare applications, EHR support, hospital operations, application implementation, workflow optimization, user acceptance testing (UAT), and healthcare technology coordination.

This role is not a traditional IT project management or systems administration position. The ideal candidate is a hands-on healthcare applications professional who understands how hospital teams use technology in daily operations and can bridge the gap between clinical/operational users, application teams, vendors, and technical resources.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide operational and application support for hospital-wide systems, including:
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Staff scheduling applications
  • Incident reporting systems
  • Policy management platforms
• Coordinate application upgrades, enhancements, configuration changes, and system initiatives
• Partner with hospital stakeholders, application teams, vendors, and end users to ensure successful system changes
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, including:
  • Developing test scenarios
  • Identifying appropriate testers
  • Tracking test results
  • Documenting and resolving issues
• Gather and document business requirements, workflows, system issues, and process improvement opportunities
• Evaluate how application changes impact hospital workflows, policies, procedures, reporting, and staff responsibilities
• Assist with implementation readiness activities, including:
  • End-user communications
  • Training materials
  • Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Workflow documentation
• Track application issues, risks, decisions, dependencies, and action items through resolution
• Serve as a subject matter resource and super user for assigned healthcare applications
• Support recently implemented hospital applications through stabilization and optimization
• Assist with EHR implementation planning and readiness activities
• Work with clinical, administrative, and operational teams to identify workflow needs and technology improvements
• Facilitate meetings and working sessions with operational leaders, technical teams, and vendors

Required Qualifications

• Experience supporting healthcare or hospital applications
• Strong understanding of healthcare operations, hospital workflows, and end-user technology needs
• Experience with application implementations, upgrades, optimization, or system support initiatives
• Experience coordinating:
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Implementation readiness activities
  • Workflow documentation
  • Application enhancements
• Ability to gather and translate business requirements into actionable technology solutions
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with:

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar healthcare platforms
• Healthcare application analyst experience
• Clinical systems support experience
• Hospital operations or healthcare project coordination background
• Experience with change management, workflow improvement, and system adoption
• Experience working in regulated healthcare environments
