Job Title: Hospital Care Investigator
Location: New York, NY

Shift: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM | 11.50 Hours/Day | 34.50 Hours/Week
Pay: $28/hr - $30/hr.
Schedule Notes:
Medical Biller experience with billing edits, claim denials, and follow-up activities
Strong backend billing experience, including Epic and insurance billing, claims processing, denial management, and resolution
Candidate must be available for in-person interviews
Duties:
Review accounts, correct claim edits, prepare and complete claims for submission to payers
Post all types of payments and update patient accounting systems
Complete both paper and electronic claims in a timely manner
Document patient information clearly and completely in systems
Interact with other departments to complete billing on accounts
Process rejections, denials, and other correspondence in a timely manner
Process pre-authorizations, document responses in the system, and follow up as needed
Audit patient accounts for accuracy and apply adjustments as needed
Provide billing customer service and ensure conversations are documented accurately
Process statements and enter information into the database
Review past-due bills and follow up on past-due accounts
Generate Patient Balance Aging and Insurance Aging reports and follow up with patients and insurance companies accordingly
Arrange payment schedules with patients
Refer accounts requiring escalation to the Supervisor in a timely manner
Attend all necessary training sessions to effectively perform day-to-day functions
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor

TRAINING ATTENDANCE
Education:
Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university; OR
High School Diploma or its educational equivalent approved by the State Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization, and four (4) years of full-time experience in interviewing, investigation, or a related field, such as credit and collection follow-up or bookkeeping; OR
Education and/or experience equivalent to the above
College education may be substituted for experience at a rate of thirty (30) semester credits equivalent to one (1) year of experience
All candidates must have at least a High School Diploma or its educational equivalent approved by the State Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization
