    Hospital Laboratory Director

    Location: Nashville, TN
    Employment Type: Full-Time
    Schedule: Days | No Weekends
    Salary: $93,000 – $120,000
    Incentive Bonus: Up to 17.5%
    Sign-On Bonus: $10,000
    Relocation: Case-by-case

    Position Overview

    The Hospital Laboratory Director is responsible for overall leadership, operational management, regulatory compliance, staffing strategy, and financial performance of a hospital-based clinical laboratory.

    This role ensures compliance with CAP, CLIA, CMS, FDA, and Joint Commission standards while driving quality improvement, fiscal accountability, and operational efficiency across complex laboratory services.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Direct all clinical laboratory operations and programs.

    • Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, CMS, FDA, and Joint Commission standards.

    • Oversee staffing, hiring, competency validation, and performance management.

    • Lead department budgeting and financial performance.

    • Prepare Monthly Operating Review reports.

    • Manage vendor relationships and supply contracts.

    • Develop and maintain laboratory policies and procedures.

    • Monitor productivity, quality metrics, and service performance.

    • Implement continuous improvement initiatives.

    • Provide leadership, coaching, and development for laboratory staff.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelors Degree in:

      • Medical Technology

      • Biomedical Science

      • Biology

      • Chemistry

    • National Certification as a Medical Technologist (ASCP or equivalent)

    • Active Tennessee laboratory license (required for submission)

    • Minimum 3+ years progressive laboratory management experience

    • Leadership experience in complex clinical laboratory operations

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Masters Degree

    • Hospital-based clinical laboratory leadership experience
