Hospital Liaison & Emergency Care Coordinator | Brooklyn, NY/Monsey, NY /Lakewood, NJ · $120,000–$140,000
About the Role:
A healthcare organization is hiring a Director to run its Critical Care Department, stepping in whenever a hospital case turns urgent or complicated. This person owns the handling of critical transfers, keeps physicians and hospital teams in sync, and manages the department's existing Critical Care staff. The mandate is full accountability for how a case moves — from the first call to a resolved admission, discharge, or transfer.
Key Responsibilities
Critical Care Leadership
- Lead the existing Critical Care team and direct next steps on complex, time-sensitive cases
- Provide leadership and decision-making when situations escalate
- Take full ownership of the department's critical-care efforts and ensure cases are followed through effectively
Patient & Family Liaison
- Guide and support patients and families throughout hospitalization
- Help families understand their options and navigate complex, sensitive medical situations
- Serve as a calm, knowledgeable resource during stressful situations
Hospital Transfers & Emergency Coordination
- Coordinate urgent and complex transfers between hospitals
- Work closely with physicians, surgeons, transfer centers, admissions teams, and hospital departments
- Rapidly assess needs, mobilize resources, and facilitate physician-to-physician and hospital-to-hospital communication
Physician & Hospital Outreach
- Build and maintain relationships with physicians, surgeons, hospital leadership, and key institutional contacts
- Serve as a trusted liaison within hospitals and the broader medical community
- Conduct ongoing hospital and medical-community outreach to open doors for patients when they need it most
Care Coordination & Advocacy
- Collaborate with other specialized divisions to ensure seamless communication and continuity of care
- Advocate persistently for patients from admission through discharge or transfer
- Follow up closely on cases and think outside the box when a situation doesn't follow the standard playbook
Qualifications
- 5+ years of Medical or healthcare background required (clinical training, healthcare administration, paramedic, nursing, or similar)
- Strong understanding of the medical field and comfort communicating directly with physicians, surgeons, and hospital leadership
- Excellent written and verbal English with polished, diplomatic communication skills
- Ability to make sound decisions and remain effective under pressure
- Strong work ethic and willingness to meet the demands of a high-responsibility, full-time role with emergency availability
