Position Overview
We are seeking dependable, hands-on Supply Chain Management Expediters / Hospital Materials Management Specialists to support hospital supply chain and Materials Management operations across a healthcare system in Syracuse.
This is an operational healthcare supply-chain position responsible for ensuring that medical supplies, equipment, specialty carts, packages, and other materials are received, inventoried, stocked, picked, assembled, delivered, cleaned, and made available to hospital departments when needed.
The position plays an important role in the day-to-day operation of a major academic medical center supporting specialized clinical services, including pediatric, trauma, burn, intensive-care, and other hospital services.
This is not a desk-based supply-chain analyst or purchasing position. The successful candidate will spend substantial time standing, walking, stocking, moving supplies, delivering equipment, and working directly within hospital supply-chain operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming products and supplies and complete both physical and electronic receipt of inventory.
- Stock shelves and designated supply locations accurately and efficiently.
- Pick products from inventory and fill departmental supply orders.
- Scan and replenish PAR levels to maintain appropriate inventory quantities.
- Deliver products, equipment, and supplies to departments throughout the hospital.
- Stock in-room patient supply carts.
- Assemble specialty kits, bundles, carts, and supply boxes according to hospital requirements.
- Build and replenish specialized carts and kits, including PPE, adult and pediatric emergency supplies, maximum-barrier supplies, burn supplies, PICC supplies, adult/pediatric intubation boxes, dental supplies, dialysis supplies, difficult-airway supplies, and other designated specialty configurations.
- Sort and deliver internal mail, packages, and other materials.
- Respond to telephone, Vocera, and electronic requests for equipment and supplies.
- Locate requested equipment and supplies and deliver them promptly to the requesting department.
- Inspect inventory for expiration dates.
- Rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Maintain organized, accurate, and properly stocked supply areas.
- Break down cardboard boxes and packaging as part of normal warehouse/distribution operations.
- Pick up used or soiled non-surgical equipment from designated locations.
- Clean and disinfect non-surgical equipment while utilizing required PPE and, where applicable, PAPR equipment.
- Tag, prepare, and return cleaned equipment to service.
- Perform setup and operational verification of equipment before it is issued.
- Perform minor equipment repairs when appropriate and refer major equipment issues to Health Technology Management (HTM).
- Assist with unloading UPS and FedEx delivery trucks.
- Perform data entry and retrieve information using hospital computer systems.
- When assigned and appropriately qualified, operate a box truck or mail truck/van. A CDL is not required for the box truck.
Mandatory Qualifications
Warehouse / Inventory Experience
- Approximately 1–2 years of prior experience in a warehouse or retail environment.
- Experience with stocking shelves, managing inventory levels, receiving, picking, replenishment, distribution, or similar duties.
Basic Computer Skills
- Comfortable performing basic computer functions.
- Ability to perform data entry and look up information within computer systems.
Customer Service
- Strong customer-service skills.
- Ability to interact professionally and promptly with hospital personnel and respond to supply/equipment requests.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift approximately 30 pounds to shoulder height.
- Comfortable working in a physically active role involving stocking, picking, receiving, cart replenishment, equipment movement, package handling, and delivery throughout a hospital environment.
