If you enjoy hands-on work, problem-solving, and the independence of a remote field role with team support, this position with STERIS is for you. You’ll work primarily inside hospitals, ensuring surgical and sterile processing equipment runs flawlessly.
Is this you?
- Skilled with mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical systems?
- Comfortable balancing PMs, service calls, installs, and upgrades in a dynamic schedule?
- Great with Customers and confident presenting repair paths and pricing?
- Experienced from fields like HVAC, refrigeration, boilers/chillers, automotive/diesel, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, maintenance, or similar?
What you will do
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain STERIS and competitor devices across the sterile processing ecosystem: washers, sterilizers, ultrasonics, steam generators, and cart washers—part of STERIS’s core OEM line spanning 160 models.
- Plan your day to meet Customer and business priorities: preventive maintenance, warranty work, installations, and field upgrades.
- Document work using modern platforms to satisfy regulatory requirements; collaborate with Tech Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management to resolve escalations.
- Offer options and estimates to Customers; partner with Sales (with leadership support) to elevate Customer experience and identify opportunities.
- Provide coverage to multiple facilities within your assigned territory based on agreements and needs.
What you need
- High School Diploma or GED plus 4+ years of work experience, including 2+ years in a mechanical/technical capacity; an Associate’s degree, relevant certifications, competitive equipment training, or related military experience may apply toward the technical requirement.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical assessment elements to obtain and maintain vendor credentialing.
- Customer and team interaction experience with effective written and verbal communication.
- Basic computer proficiency (Windows, email, navigation, mobile apps, and multi-system data entry).
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including occasional overnights and early/late hours, based on Customer/business needs; ability to comply with hospital/Customer credentialing requirements.
Compensation & benefits
Pay range for this opportunity is $65,000.00 - $75,000.00. This position is eligible for bonus.
Minimum pay will comply with any higher county/city wage requirements. Actual offers consider local labor market costs, relevant experience, education, certifications, and foreign language fluency.
