Nocturnist Physician (MD/DO) - Houston, Texas
Position Summary
The Nocturnist Physician provides comprehensive inpatient medical care during overnight hours, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care for hospitalized patients. This role is responsible for admissions, consultations, management of acute medical conditions, and coordination of care with multidisciplinary teams while maintaining compliance with hospital policies and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive inpatient care during overnight shifts, including admissions, consultations, cross-coverage, and management of medical emergencies.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic medical conditions in hospitalized patients.
- Collaborate with specialists, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary services to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and referring providers regarding treatment plans and care transitions.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and adherence to hospital protocols.
- Complete accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation and billing records.
- Support the education and development of residents, medical students, and other healthcare learners, as applicable.
- Maintain professional standards and participate in continuing medical education activities.
Qualifications
Education
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
Licensure/Certification
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Active Texas Medical License or eligibility to obtain Texas licensure.
- DEA registration and applicable certifications required for practice.
Experience
- Previous hospitalist or nocturnist experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage acute inpatient medical conditions effectively and efficiently.

Schedule

- 7-on/7-off nocturnist schedule.
