Fairview Southdale Hospital seeks a Physician Assistant to join their Hospitalist Program. This will be a dual role with responsibilities that include acting as a House provider and Hospitalist.
Along with the rapid response team, the House Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides immediate medical care to inpatients, outpatients utilizing hospital outpatient services, and on-site hospital visitors for urgent and emergency situations 24/7. On site hospitalist physicians are available for back up, however the role is largely autonomous. The Hospitalist APP is comprised of multiple roles including admitting team (2), observation, and rounding.
Fairview Southdale Hospital has good ancillary support from dedicated RNs, RN Care Coordinators, Social Workers, Pharmacists, etc. The medical staff is comprised of multiple specialty and subspecialty services who work collaboratively to provide comprehensive medical care to the patients at Southdale.
Practice Details:
House Role
Provides in-hospital medical staff coverage at specified hours as scheduled
Provides face to face evaluations of in-hospital patients requiring restraint and seclusion
Responds and leads all rapid response team calls (examples: altered mental status, chest pain evaluation, respiratory distress, cardiac/resp arrest, etc.)
Responds to, evaluates and treats in-hospital medical/surgical emergencies and/or inpatient related problems including patient injuries
Provide preliminary interpretation of xrays and/or labs included in emergency work up
Participates in disaster emergencies, real and/or practice
Hours are either days or nights 6:30am-7pm and 6:30p-7a
Weekends are every 3d rotation
Hospitalist Role
See patients exclusively in hospital setting
Provide day and evening inpatient coverage on a rotating basis
Responsibility of admissions, assisting with cross coverage, as well as coverage of Observation Unit which is managed by Hospitalist group
Variable hours including day (7am-6pm) and evening (1pm-midnight) shifts

Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
BC/BE through NCCPA
Licensed or ability to obtain a PA license with prescriptive authority through the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
Ability to obtain and/or maintain DEA certification for the State of Minnesota
Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges
