    Job Description

    Job Title:  Host/Hostess 

    Department: Food and Beverage  

    Supervisor: Food and Beverage Manager or Director 

    Summary 

    The Food and Beverage Host/Hostess plays a key role in delivering exceptional guest experiences by welcoming guests, managing reservations, and coordinating seating in the hotel’s dining areas. The hostess ensures smooth operations by collaborating with servers, kitchen staff, and management to maintain high standards of service and guest satisfaction. 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

    • Greet guests warmly and professionally upon arrival. 
    • Manage reservations and waitlists using booking systems. 
    • Coordinate seating arrangements to optimize service flow and guest comfort. 
    • Provide menus and introduce guests to their server. 
    • Answer guest inquiries regarding menu items, hotel amenities, and dining policies. 
    • Monitor dining room activity to ensure timely table turnover and cleanliness. 
    • Assist with special events, private dining setups, and VIP guest services. 
    • Communicate effectively with kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth operations.

    Education and/or Experience  

    Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations  

    Current Food Handler’s certificate or ServSafe certification is required. Current TABC (TX) or RVSP (LA) is required.
