Savara Hospitality is looking for an Assistant General Manager with previous experience in hotel management for its small portfolio of boutique hotels in Blowing Rock, NC.

The role of the Assistant General Manager (AGM) is to assist the General Manager in the daily operation of the hotel, as well as oversee the property in the absence of the General Manager (GM). The Assistant General Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the Front Desk, Housekeeping and Maintenance teams in conjunction with the GM and making sure that all departments run smoothly and efficiently.  During low occupancy time periods, the AGM may need to work some Front Desk Shifts. 

This is a service oriented position and requires outstanding interpersonal communication skills and friendly professionalism.  

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day front office and back-of-the-house hotel operations as a key leader of the property and as manager-on-duty on an as needed basis.
  • Provide support in interviewing, hiring, training, and developing staff members across all departments.
  • Oversee front desk and reservations functions to maintain the highest possible room occupancy and average daily rate.
  • Lead guest service operations to ensure superior guest satisfaction, including responding to and resolving guest requests, complaints, or questions in a courteous and timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Coordinate housekeeping and maintenance operations to ensure that the property is a safe, clean and comfortable environment for all guests and employees.
  • Manage special renovation, maintenance, and training projects as assigned.
  • Ensure housekeeping departmental cleaning and sanitation standards and checklists are followed, and that guest rooms and public areas are being properly cleaned and sanitized by housekeeping staff.
  • Assign housekeeping boards and tasks as needed
  • Inspect guestrooms and provide feedback to housekeeping and maintenance departments.
  • Fill in when necessary across departments.
  • Oversee HR and performance management for all hotel employees.
  • Manage scheduling for all hotel departments as needed.
  • Provide oversight and support to F&B operations, including banquet and breakfast service as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. The company reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Previous hotel management experience with proven success in leadership of teams and in-depth knowledge of all aspects of hotel operations.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Some experience with food and beverage operations preferred.
  • Strong financial knowledge and computer literacy.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Time management skills and “hands-on” orientation to meet commitments across multiple departments and roles
  • Outgoing personality and customer focus to consistently deliver optimal employee and customer satisfaction for the hotel.
  • Superb detail orientation, problem solving skills, organizational skills, good judgment, and ability to think outside of the box.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local area attractions, restaurants, and shops
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate effectively to others

Education and Experience:

  • College degree preferred but not required
  • At least 2-3 years hotel management or related industry experience in a management role

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand for prolonged periods
  • Able to climb ladders 
  • Able to climb stairs and assist guests with luggage 
  • Able to walk hallways and perimeter of property
  • Able to twist, bend and reach
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds
