Maintenance Engineer - Kenwood Inn & Spa
Kenwood Inn & Spa is a 30-room luxury boutique hotel in Sonoma Wine Country seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of the property's day-to-day maintenance, preventative care, safety, and overall physical condition.
This is a hands-on, independent role working closely with the General Manager and Assistant Manager. Because Kenwood Inn is a small boutique property without a large engineering department, we need someone with broad facilities experience who can troubleshoot a variety of building and mechanical systems, complete routine repairs independently, and recognize when specialized or licensed vendor support is required.
This is not an entry-level position. The ideal candidate has several years of professional maintenance experience, preferably in a hotel, resort, hospitality, or comparable guest-facing environment, and understands how to complete work efficiently and professionally without disrupting the guest experience.
Strong technical judgment, preventative maintenance, communication, organization, documentation, and follow-through are essential.

Perform routine exterior maintenance including irrigation adjustments, outdoor lighting repairs, power washing, and general property upkeep.

Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor when working in guest-facing areas.
Qualification Requirements
Several years of professional building, facilities, or property maintenance experience required.
Previous hotel, resort, hospitality, or comparable guest-facing facilities experience strongly preferred.
Broad working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical equipment, pools and spas, doors and locks, carpentry, painting, and general building systems.
Experience with preventative maintenance programs and routine property inspections.
Ability to independently troubleshoot common maintenance issues and determine appropriate next steps.
Strong judgment regarding when work can be safely completed internally and when a licensed or specialized contractor is required.
Strong communication, organization, documentation, and follow-through skills.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and urgent guest-impacting needs.
Ability to work independently while maintaining regular communication with property management.
Must be available for emergency on-call situations on weekends, holidays, and after hours when required.

Prior hotel or resort engineering experience
Experience maintaining pools and spas
Familiarity with commercial boilers, water heaters, HVAC systems, pumps, and mechanical equipment
Experience coordinating outside contractors and service vendors
Relevant trade, facilities, HVAC, pool, electrical, plumbing, or building-maintenance certifications
We are looking for someone who is resourceful, proactive, safety-minded, and accountable -- someone who takes pride in maintaining the property, identifies problems before they affect guests, and follows projects through to completion.
