    Position Overview

    We are seeking a dependable, organized, trustworthy, and family-oriented House Manager to provide comprehensive support within a private family home. This position is ideal for someone who takes initiative, works well with children, maintains a clean and organized environment, and can confidently manage various household responsibilities.

    The House Manager will assist with housekeeping, laundry, grocery and household shopping, meal preparation, children’s routines and activities, homework and study support, transportation, and the overall organization of the home. The ideal candidate must be reliable, attentive, patient, respectful of the family’s privacy, and capable of completing responsibilities with limited supervision.

    Primary Responsibilities

    Housekeeping and Household Organization

    •⁠  ⁠Perform routine housekeeping to maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized home.
    •⁠  ⁠Clean and organize common areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen areas, and other assigned household spaces.
    •⁠  ⁠Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize surfaces, and complete other routine cleaning responsibilities.
    •⁠  ⁠Keep household items organized and ensure frequently used areas remain orderly.
    •⁠  ⁠Monitor household necessities and notify the family when products or supplies need to be replenished.
    •⁠  ⁠Assist with organizing closets, children’s belongings, household supplies, and storage areas as needed.
    •⁠  ⁠Complete light household upkeep and promptly communicate any maintenance or safety concerns.

    Laundry and Linen Care

    •⁠  ⁠Wash, dry, fold, organize, and properly store clothing and household linens.
    •⁠  ⁠Change bed linens and maintain clean towels and other household fabrics.
    •⁠  ⁠Follow care instructions for clothing and delicate items.
    •⁠  ⁠Help ensure children’s clothing, uniforms, and activity-related items are clean and available when needed.

    Shopping and Household Errands

    •⁠  ⁠Shop for groceries, cleaning products, toiletries, children’s necessities, and other approved household items.
    •⁠  ⁠Maintain accurate receipts and follow the family’s approved shopping list and budget.
    •⁠  ⁠Pick up household orders, prescriptions, school supplies, or other approved items as requested.
    •⁠  ⁠Help monitor commonly used household products to prevent essential items from running out.

    Cooking and Meal Support

    •⁠  ⁠Prepare appropriate meals and snacks for the family and children.
    •⁠  ⁠Follow household preferences, dietary instructions, and allergy-related precautions.
    •⁠  ⁠Assist with meal planning, grocery-list preparation, food storage, and kitchen organization.
    •⁠  ⁠Clean and sanitize the kitchen and food-preparation areas after cooking.
    •⁠  ⁠Monitor basic food inventory and expiration dates.

    Children’s Support and Supervision

    •⁠  ⁠Provide attentive, patient, and age-appropriate assistance to the children.
    •⁠  ⁠Help children complete homework, reading assignments, studying, and other educational responsibilities.
    •⁠  ⁠Plan and participate in safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate activities.
    •⁠  ⁠Assist children with maintaining their routines and organizing school and activity materials.
    •⁠  ⁠Transport children to and from approved activities, appointments, practices, or other scheduled destinations when requested.
    •⁠  ⁠Communicate relevant updates, concerns, schedule changes, or needs to the parent promptly.
    •⁠  ⁠Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and prioritize the children’s safety and well-being at all times.

    General Household Support


    •⁠  ⁠Assist with coordinating daily household priorities and maintaining an organized routine.
    •⁠  ⁠Help prepare the home and children for scheduled activities, appointments, school obligations, and family events.
    •⁠  ⁠Complete reasonable household errands and additional home-support responsibilities as assigned.
    •⁠  ⁠Maintain discretion and strict confidentiality concerning the family, children, household, schedules, and personal information.
    •⁠  ⁠Provide additional hours when requested and mutually agreed upon.

    Required Qualifications

    •⁠  ⁠Must have a valid driver’s license.
    •⁠  ⁠Must own and maintain a safe, reliable, and properly insured vehicle.
    •⁠  ⁠Must have a dependable work history and demonstrate strong reliability and punctuality.
    •⁠  ⁠Must successfully complete a criminal background check.
    •⁠  ⁠Must obtain and maintain a valid Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance.
    •⁠  ⁠Must be comfortable working with and transporting children.
    •⁠  ⁠Must know how to prepare meals and safely handle food.
    •⁠  ⁠Must be capable of performing routine housekeeping, laundry, shopping, and household-organization responsibilities.
    •⁠  ⁠Must be able to follow instructions, manage time effectively, and work independently.
    •⁠  ⁠Must demonstrate patience, sound judgment, professionalism, and respect for household privacy.
    •⁠  ⁠Must communicate clearly and promptly regarding schedules, completed responsibilities, concerns, or emergencies.

    Preferred Qualifications

    •⁠  ⁠Bilingual candidates are strongly preferred.
    •⁠  ⁠Previous experience as a house manager, family assistant, nanny, caregiver, housekeeper, or in a similar household-support position is preferred.
    •⁠  ⁠Experience assisting children with homework, studying, routines, and extracurricular activities is preferred.
    •⁠  ⁠Familiarity with household planning, meal preparation, and family scheduling is preferred.

    Position Expectations

    This is a part-time position beginning at approximately 18–21 hours per week. The schedule may vary according to the family’s needs, and additional hours may occasionally be requested. The selected candidate must be dependable, flexible, proactive, and committed to maintaining a safe, supportive, clean, and well-organized home environment.
