Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a House Supervisor for a behavioral health setting in Conroe, Texas. This mid-level leadership position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and provides oversight of nursing and facility operations during assigned night shifts.
The House Supervisor helps maintain safe, high-quality psychiatric and general nursing care while coordinating staffing, supporting clinical teams, and ensuring operational and regulatory requirements are followed. This position requires a confident clinical leader who can make sound decisions independently in a fast-paced behavioral health environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate nursing schedules and staffing to maintain appropriate shift coverage while managing overtime and supplemental staffing needs.
- Review staffing needs, attendance, absences, tardiness, and time-off requests.
- Support nursing leadership with payroll-related information and departmental administrative responsibilities.
- Oversee facility operations during assigned shifts when senior administration is not on-site.
- Provide clinical leadership, coaching, education, and performance guidance to nursing staff.
- Assist with employee evaluations, performance concerns, and disciplinary processes.
- Support nursing department meetings, including attendance documentation and meeting records.
- · Provide nursing and intake coverage when operational needs require additional assistance.
- Respond to patient-care concerns and advocate for safe, appropriate treatment.
- Maintain compliance with applicable Joint Commission requirements, Medicaid standards, and state and federal healthcare regulations.
- Help resolve workplace conflicts and escalate concerns to appropriate leadership when necessary.
- Conduct investigations, gather relevant information, maintain accurate documentation, and communicate findings appropriately.
- Perform comprehensive nursing responsibilities as needed, including patient assessments, treatment planning, admissions, discharges, medication administration, and direct patient care.
- Ensure clinical documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted within required timeframes.
- Promote quality nursing practices that support established patient treatment goals.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Nursing.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license meeting Texas requirements.
- Behavioral health experience.
- Nursing leadership or supervisory experience.
- Strong critical-thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to work effectively with limited supervision and respond appropriately in high-stress situations.
- CPR certification within 30 days of employment and before providing patient contact.
- De-escalation certification within 30 days of employment and before providing patient contact.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience in a psychiatric or behavioral healthcare environment.
- At least 1 year of nursing leadership or management experience.
- Experience working with populations involving psychiatric conditions, chemical dependency, dual diagnoses, or geriatric behavioral health.
- Experience with patient assessment, treatment planning, family engagement, and communication with external review organizations.
