Job Summary:
The Houseboat Operator administers a pre-launch orientation with the rental guests. The operator drives the houseboats in and out of Seven Bays Marina, including fueling and pump-out services. This position requires that a high level of customer service is provided.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Safe operation, cleaning, and general up keep of houseboats
* Safe vessel tie up to docks, piers, ships, and moorings
* Positive communication with guests and crew
* Provide a guest orientation for safe operation and use of onboard equipment, electronics, and utilities
* Repair and modification of related equipment such as pumps, lines, hoses
* Grease, lube, and maintenance of the marine systems
* Maintain accurate logs and records
* Interacts with customers and management in a professional manner
* Driving, moving, docking of houseboats.
* Refuel, operate tank pump outs, fill water tanks, stock propane tanks
* Provide training and orientation of houseboats for guests prior to departure
* Make sure all items on the orientation checklist are supplied and stocked on the houseboat
* Housekeeping of houseboats after guest use includes laundering of linens
* Contact guests prior to arrival to discuss all pre-arrival concerns and/or questions
* Coordinate arrival and departure times with guests
* Other duties as assigned by management
SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE
* Washington State Boaters Safety Card
* Must be able to work in all types of weather conditions
* Must be available to work a flexible work schedule
* Previous dock/marina experience preferred
* Ability to work with little direct supervision
* Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects and/or equipment
* Ability to take and adhere to instructions
* Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others
* Small boat handling skills, passenger vessel experience a plus
* WebRez Pro and FareHarbor POS System experience a plus
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
* Ability to stand and walk on nearly a constant basis
* Able to bend, rotate, and reach frequently
* Carry, push/pull, and/or lift materials weighing upwards of 75 lbs.
* Ascending/descending stairs or ladders safely
* Manipulate/handle/grip materials required to perform the job
* Maneuver through/in/around small and/or confined areas within the vessel
* Must be able to maintain both static and dynamic standing balance to complete various duties associated with the job
* Must be capable of performing emergency duties as listed in the vessel's station bill
EQUIPMENT USED
* Typical office equipment (computers, phone system, fax, copiers, scanners, POS Systems)
* Marina, boat and dock maintenance equipment
