# Title: Housekeeper II - Heavy Worker
## Description
Pay Range: $26.82 - $33.52 (Hourly Compensation)
Basic Job Function:
Performs specialized cleaning duties or assignments that require a high degree of skill, responsibility, or uncommon physical effort. Duties include using heavy equipment, including heavy lifting and pushing, shampooing and buffing all floors in guest rooms and public areas, and ensuring the proper sorting and distribution of linen and supplies to other Housekeeping employees and guests.
## Position Requirements
### Essential Functions
- Dusts, mops, sweeps, scrubs, polishes, vacuums, buffs, waxes, strips, and/or spot cleans all floor surfaces, baseboards, furniture, and walls.
- Surfaces to be cleaned may include marble, terrazzo, tile, carpet, etc.
- Requires lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, or standing for extended periods of time and using various cleaning techniques and heavy equipment.
- Dusts, polishes, and cleans all furniture, columns, pictures, and shelves while extending arms over head or climbing ladders to heights of 8 feet.
- Empties the laundry chute and places soiled linen in designated bins by lifting, bending, stooping, kneeling, or standing for extended periods of time.
- Shampoos carpets and upholstery.
- Removes stains and debris such as gum in carpets, upholstery, and walls to maintain a neat and clean appearance by bending, stooping, kneeling, or standing for extended periods of time and using various cleaning techniques.
- Uses brushes, cloths, and prescribed chemical agents for proper cleaning of surfaces.
- Pre-sorts and separates linen by type and transfers by lifting, carrying, or transporting to work areas.
- Obtains, delivers, distributes, and stacks linens and supplies to linen closets, linen rooms, maids, and guests by lifting up to 50 lbs., bending, stopping, or walking for extended periods of time, and pushing/pulling large linen bins up to 500 lbs.
- Relocates, transports, and moves guest room and office furniture, carpets, fixtures, linen supplies, and equipment by bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 500 lbs for extended periods of time.
- Empties room attendant carts of soiled linen and trash.
- Dusts and cleans ceiling areas, air-conditioning units, light fixtures, and draperies by climbing a ladder.
- Completes special projects such as, but not limited to:
- Flipping mattresses on a quarterly basis.
- Installing drapery.
- Unpacking Housekeeping and Laundry supplies.
- Receives and delivers clothes to hotel guests and provides other services as necessary.
- Responds in a timely manner and delivers/transports guest requested items such as rollaways, cribs, and irons.
### Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Report all suspicious persons or activities and hazardous or unsafe conditions to the Security Department.
- Provide instruction and/or guidance for guest and employee safety in fire or other emergency situations.
- Respond in a timely manner in basic English language to guest requests for items such as an iron, safety instructions, assistance, direction, and/or other information as requested.
- Assist in the unboxing of linens and taking inventories.
- Cleans and maintains equipment and tools to ensure proper working order.
- Posts safety signs in areas to be cleaned.
- Separate out laundry requiring mending or special stain removal.
- Perform a variety of other duties as assigned.
## Education & Training Requirements
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalency required.
- Training: Training in floor, upholstery, and carpet care required.
## Experience & Skill Requirements
- Experience: Previous Housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- CPR and Standard First Aid Certification preferred.
- Ability to complete HAZCOM/MSDS Training required.
- Ability to complete Blood Borne Pathogen Training required.
## Mental Capacity & Organizational Skill Requirements
- Ability to pay attention to detail and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and organize, prioritize assignments, and messages for delivery.
- Basic mathematical skills necessary to mix proper chemicals for equipment.
- Ability to learn and apply hazardous chemical standards.
- Knowledge of stain removal and chemical cleaning agents.
- Knowledge of operation of different industrial shampooing and cleaning equipment.
- Knowledge of use of equipment such as buffers, scrubbers, air lift, and other housekeeping machines.
- Ability to concentrate and work under a noisy environment.
- Ability to handle and cope with complaints and comments from guests.
## Communication Requirements
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language sufficient to communicate pleasantly and effectively with employees, staff, and guests via the telephone, two-way radio, and/or in person.

- Lifting may include equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to move, pull, or push goods on a cart weighing up to 500 lbs with wheeled assistance.
- Ability to climb stairs and climb ladders up to eight (8) feet.
- Ability to extend arms over head, stooping, bending, standing, walking, and working continuously for extended periods of time to perform cleaning tasks and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to move throughout the work area while performing the essential job functions.

## Other Requirements
