Housekeeping Attendant/Linen: Hrly PT - 1st Shift (Occasional 2nd Shift)

What You Will Do:

• Cleans assigned areas by washing furniture, tile, fixtures, and equipment with germicidal cleaning solutions.  Cleans assigned areas by washing walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, televisions, and windows; strips and makes patient beds.
• Cleans in outpatient and sterile processing using proper cleaning solutions and as prescribed by departmental procedures.
• Thoroughly completes all procedures scheduled during the shift without sacrificing the quality of work. Completes work left from previous work shifts and reports all incomplete assignments to ensure continuity of procedures.
• Collects waste from all areas of hospital and sanitizes all waste cans. Collects soiled linen.  Collects hazardous waste as established by Infection Control Committee.
• Climbs ladder to hang cubicles, window drapes, or reach high areas for other cleaning purposes.

• Responsible for distribution of clean linens to all using departments and maintaining a sufficient supply of clean linens available to meet Medical Center needs.

• Sorts and folds linens, as well as checks for correct linen on carts and rearranges as necessary.  Delivers carts of clean linen to all linen users.
• Unloads unused linen from carts from patient area and places on stationary shelving in Central Linen Room.
• Attends meetings and training sessions as scheduled. 
• Counts inventories on floors.
• Handles emergency linen requests.
• Maintains linen shelves in neat and orderly manner.  Keeps hallways and landings clear of linen carts.
• Obtains proper materials from stockroom for new supplies and from storage rooms for old articles to be mended.
• Sort and size scrub bundles for the specified department.
• Enters data into linen management software program.
• Inform management on department equipment and supplies in a timely manner.

What You Will Need: 

• Ability to lift 50 pounds and be mobile.

• Prefer experience with floor cleaning equipment and ability to strip and refinish floors and clean carpets.

• Ability to read and understand simple verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations.

• Ability to comply with OSHA regulations and CDC standard and transmission-based precaution recommendations and to utilize proper personal protective equipment.  Ability to comply with provisions of applicable S.D.S. forms.

• Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
