Housekeeping cleans, maintains, and services an assigned area or task within or associated with the hospital facilities performed under the direct leadership of a supervisor.
Schedule: Saturday - Sunday plus one weekday 3PM - 11:30PM
Responsibilities
Perform intensive floor care: dusting and damp mopping, stripping and refinishing, and spray buffing.
Perform carpet and furniture care: vacuuming, spot removal, and shampooing.
Collect and dispose of trash, soiled linen, and recyclable materials.
Replace receptacle liners and recycling collection totes.
Cleaning and sanitizing horizontal and vertical surfaces: dusting, damp wiping, spot cleaning of vents, light fixtures, window ledges, and doors.
Clean restrooms: clean fixtures and replenish restroom supplies.
Clean and maintain items in assigned areas, including stairwells, elevators, water fountains, walls, windows, furniture, baseboards, glassware
Change curtains, draperies, blinds, and shades as assigned.
Operate electric and battery-powered equipment for cleaning services and rearrangement of furniture/equipment.
Pick up necessary supplies, pack regulated medical waste and respond to floods and other emergencies.
Wear protective clothing as required.
Remove soiled linens/protective coverings, clean and remake beds, stretchers, exam tables, etc.
Requirements:
Be at least 18 years old
The ability to add and subtract numbers and make comparisons between numbers and letters
The ability to understand and respond to simple written or verbal instructions
Incumbents must respond appropriately to instructions, questions, or requests for information
The ability to be courteous when occasionally contacting patients and visitors
Physical Requirements of the Job:
Work requires lifting and carrying patients/children/objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting and moving patients/children/objects weighing 11 to 20 pounds.
Work requires regular stooping and bending.
The job requires reaching and grasping objects below the shoulder level and frequently reaching and grasping objects at the shoulder level.
Work occasionally requires reaching and grasping objects above shoulder level.
Work requires continually pushing and pulling non-motorized equipment (e.g., stretcher, food cart, mop, etc.) weighing over 50 Ibs
Work requires regular grasping and fine manipulation with the hands.
