The Housekeeping Dispatcher supports the Environmental Services (EVS) team by coordinating housekeeping assignments and helping ensure patient rooms and discharge beds are cleaned in a timely manner. This position answers incoming EVS calls, communicates cleaning requests to housekeepers, tracks assignments, and assists with housekeeping duties as needed.
Responsibilities
Answer incoming EVS/Housekeeping telephone calls and obtain necessary information regarding cleaning requests.
Receive discharge and bed-cleaning requests and assign rooms to available housekeepers.
Communicate assignments and priority requests clearly to housekeeping team members.
Track the status of assigned rooms and follow up on outstanding cleaning requests.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date information regarding room assignments and completed work.
Communicate with EVS leadership and hospital departments regarding room status and housekeeping needs.
Respond promptly, accurately, and calmly to urgent requests and changing priorities.
Maintain confidentiality of patient and organizational information in accordance with privacy policies.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional dispatch/work area.
Perform housekeeping duties as needed, including cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, discharge rooms, common areas, and other assigned spaces.
Follow proper safety, infection prevention, chemical handling, and cleaning procedures.
Work as part of the EVS team to support efficient room turnover and overall hospital cleanliness.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old.
Communicate effectively in English and work well in a team environment.
Must be comfortable answering phones, communicating assignments, and managing multiple requests.
Ability to stay organized and prioritize assignments in a fast-paced environment.
Must practice good personal hygiene, be neatly groomed, and be in uniform.
Preferred: Housekeeping experience, including cleaning, environmental services, custodial, janitorial, room attendant, floor care, hotel operations, or healthcare.
Previous dispatch, customer service, or telephone experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
Standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, and reaching continuously throughout a shift.
Pushing and pulling carts or equipment weighing over 100 lbs. on tile and carpeted floors throughout a shift.
Must be able to handle cleaning chemicals, including bleach, wax, and disinfectants.
Must be able to operate equipment necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
