The Housekeeping team member helps maintain a clean, healthful, and attractive environment for patients, residents, visitors, and employees. This position completes housekeeping duties throughout the Health Center while supporting infection control standards.Clean patient and resident rooms according to policy and procedure and to meet infection control standards.Keep hallways swept, mopped, and free of clutter according to safety standards.Maintain knowledge of cleaning chemicals used within the housekeeping department and understand their proper use.Operate housekeeping equipment in a safe manner.Report any problems or needed repairs to Maintenance.Qualifications and SkillsAbility to function independently with flexibility, personal integrity, and professionalism.Ability to work effectively with patients, residents, visitors, and coworkers.Ability to communicate effectively in English.Experience Preferred0–1 years of work experience preferred.Education and Certification RequirementsHigh School Diploma preferred.Physical RequirementsMust be able to endure long hours of continuous work.Physical effort required includes standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, and lifting up to 25 pounds.May be exposed to cleaning chemicals, bodily fluids, and unsanitary conditions consistent with healthcare environmental services work.Works in close proximity to patients, residents, visitors, and staff in a healthcare setting, including individuals who may be ill, elderly, disabled, distressed, or experiencing emotional stress.Equal Opportunity EmployerSedgwick County Health Center is an equal opportunity employer and complies with all applicable federal, state, and local fair employment practice laws.
