Scope of Position

The Housekeeping Inspector is responsible for ensuring guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces meet the hotel's cleanliness, safety, and quality standards. This role conducts inspections of cleaned rooms, provides feedback and coaching to housekeeping associates, and helps maintain an exceptional guest experience through consistent quality assurance.

Position Requirements

  • Professional demeanor appropriate for a resort environment.
  • At least 1 year of Housekeeping Supervisor experience in a hotel or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with guests and associates.
  • Ability to handle a multitude of tasks in an ever-changing environment.
  • Effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying and responding to the concerns and issues raised by guests.
  • Must be able to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work well with limited supervision.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect guest suites and ensure they meet established cleanliness and presentation standards, verifying that all suites are cleaned by the end of each shift and updated to Vacant Inspected (VI) status in the Property Management System (PMS).
  • Monitors cleanliness of all areas (suites, hallways, and storages) by completing inspections and communicating departmental needs to the Executive Housekeeper and Supervisors.
  • Monitors' guest requests to ensure that they are completed within 15 minutes.
  • Maintains accurate in-room water inventory and completes daily report.
  • Manages supplies and completes weekly inventory and room inventory.
  • Completes required end-of-day reports and communications with PM Shift.
  • Maintains a log of all projects, general cleaning, issues, patterns and/or concerns in the rooms and public areas.
  • Report areas that require attention to appropriate management.
  • Follow up and ensure VIPs and site inspections are set per standard.
  • Always displays a professional image through appearance, dress, communication, and conduct.
  • Promptly returns all loss and found items to designated location.
  • Follows and monitors key control policy, phone/radio policies.
  • Follows and monitors all safety standards such as Hazardous Communications, Blood Borne Pathogens, Fire Safety, Proper Lifting Techniques, and Housekeeping Safety.
  • Distribute keys and boards and communications devices for staff daily.
  • Participates in morning meetings to assist in communicating with associates.
  • Monitor housekeeping associate's performance and provide coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback.
  • Assist with training new housekeeping associates in cleaning procedures, quality standards, and safety practices.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and productivity documentation.
  • Support inventory control by monitoring housekeeping supplies and reporting shortages.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient daily operations and high guest satisfaction.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED

Skills and Abilities

  • Able to communicate in the English language. Second language is a plus.
  • Able to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends and able to perform multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques and use of equipment, machinery.
  • Experience using software programs such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

Physical Requirements

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be physically fit in order to lift, pull and push items up to 50 pounds.
  • Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift.
