Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Housekeeping
- Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, hallways, offices, and other assigned areas.
- Vacuum, sweep, mop, dust, wipe surfaces, empty trash, and clean windows as assigned.
- Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces and frequently used areas.
- Assist with cleaning resident rooms during move-ins, room changes, and discharges.
- Maintain cleanliness of dining areas, activity spaces, lounges, and other resident gathering areas.
- Replenish housekeeping supplies as needed.
- Follow established infection prevention, sanitation, and chemical-handling procedures.
Floor Care
- Operate floor-cleaning equipment such as automatic scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, and carpet extractors.
- Perform routine floor care, including sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing, and polishing.
- Identify flooring concerns and report damaged flooring or equipment to the appropriate leader.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and report equipment needing repair or replacement.
Light Maintenance
- Perform basic, non-technical maintenance and upkeep throughout the building.
- Replace light bulbs and batteries when appropriate.
- Assist with minor repairs and adjustments such as tightening hardware, replacing simple fixtures, and other basic building upkeep.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, leaks, damage, or environmental concerns promptly.
- Assist the maintenance team with routine projects and seasonal building upkeep.
- Help maintain a safe, uncluttered, and attractive environment for residents and visitors.
Resident & Team Support
- Interact respectfully and professionally with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
- Respect resident privacy, dignity, belongings, and personal space.
- Respond appropriately to resident requests or concerns and communicate issues to the appropriate department.
- Work collaboratively with Nursing, Dining, Activities, Maintenance, and other departments.
- Follow all facility policies, safety procedures, infection-control practices, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Previous housekeeping, environmental services, custodial, maintenance, or senior-living experience preferred.
- Ability to operate floor-cleaning equipment or willingness to learn.
- Ability to safely use cleaning chemicals and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean environment.
- Reliable attendance and ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate effectively with residents and coworkers.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, push, pull, and reach.
- Ability to lift and carry cleaning supplies and equipment.
- Ability to operate floor-cleaning machines.
- Ability to safely perform duties in resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, and common areas.
