Housekeeper - On CallWestgate Gardens Care Center - Visalia, CAPay Range: $17.48 - $17.50 per hourStatus: On-Call / As NeededGeneral PurposeThe Housekeeper plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. This position ensures that resident rooms, common areas, and facility spaces remain free of debris, odors, and safety hazards while supporting the overall comfort, dignity, and well-being of residents.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesClean and maintain public and common areas including lobbies, restrooms, drinking fountains, and floorsEnsure resident rooms and bathrooms are cleaned and sanitized according to facility standardsWipe down handrails, surfaces, mirrors, windows, and light fixtures to remove dust and debrisRemove dirt, dust, and food from walls, towel bars, dispensers, and other fixturesEmpty trash receptacles and replace liners as neededSweep, mop, and maintain floors throughout the facilityFollow established safety procedures, including use of caution signage and proper storage of cleaning chemicalsOperate cleaning equipment and supplies according to manufacturer guidelinesMaintain housekeeping carts, equipment, and supply areas in a clean and organized conditionReport resident safety concerns or hazards to the Director of Housekeeping, Administrator, or Director of Nursing immediatelyNotify the Director of Housekeeping when supplies need replenishmentDemonstrate excellent customer service and a positive attitude when interacting with residents and staffManage time effectively and complete assigned tasks efficientlyWork independently or as part of a team to meet facility cleanliness standardsSupervisory RequirementsThis position does not have supervisory responsibilities.QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious housekeeping experience in healthcare or long-term care settings preferredAbility to follow instructions, safety procedures, and cleaning protocolsStrong attention to detail and commitment to cleanlinessGood communication and interpersonal skillsSkills & AbilitiesAbility to read and understand procedure manuals and instructionsBasic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and divisionAbility to solve practical problems and work with limited supervisionAbility to interpret written, verbal, or diagram-based instructionsPhysical DemandsFrequent walking, standing, bending, and reachingAbility to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 poundsRepetitive tasks such as sweeping, mopping, wiping surfaces, and operating cleaning equipmentAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and respond quickly to facility needsWork EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job.
