PORTER Job Description Status: Full Time Shift: 7am-3pm and 1pm-9pm Start Date: 7/27/2026 Supervisor: Director of Housekeeping Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience in long-term care facility preferred. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language required. Purpose: The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the cleanliness of the facility as well as the safe and efficient storage of supplies in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by your supervisor, to assure that a successful housekeeping program is continued at all times. Essential Functions: 1. Ability to follow oral directions. 2. Ability to follow written directions. 3. Ability to follow cleaning schedules and instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established policies and procedures. 4. Ability to perform basic maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by sweeping, snow/ice removal, etc., as necessary 5. Ability to replace burned out light bulbs, including exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc. lights, room call lights, etc., wherever necessary. 6. Ability to perform cleaning procedures (such as sweeping, mopping, trash removal, washing, etc.) as required and in accordance with facility policy. 7. Reports all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to your supervisor or Administration immediately. 8. Assures that work/assignment areas are clean and free of hazardous conditions (i.e. equipment/tools/supplies are properly stored; area is free of spills; etc.) equipment/tools/supplies are properly stored; area is free of spills; etc.) 9. Ability to follow established safety procedures, Infection Control, and Universal Precautions when performing porter tasks. 10. Disposes of refuse, soiled linen, and diapers daily in accordance with established procedures. 11. Ability to keep supervisor information of porter supply needs. 12. Ability to dispense supplies and bottled water as required. 13. Ability to lift/move equipment, furniture, and supplies as required. 14. Ability to remove and replace screens and storm windows as necessary. 15. Ability to attend in-service training programs as required. 16. Ability to observe all department and facility policies and procedures, including: infection control, saniation, and fire prevention/safety. 17. Ability to follow Residents' Rights policies at all times. This includes the ability to maintain the confidentiality of resident care information. 18. Turns in all found articles to your supervisor. 19. Ability to come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality. 20. Ability to carry out assigned duties in a cooperative manner. 21 Ability to assume accountability for data contained in the employees' handbook. 22. Performs other related duties as directed by the Housekeeper Director. Physical and Sensory Requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices): Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day. Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Must possess sight/hearing senses, or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met. Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel, and support agencies. Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times, hostile people within the facility. Must be able to lift and move residents, equipment, supplies, etc. in excess of fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents. Requirements:
