Job Description

The Housekeeping/Setup Crew Supervisor reports to the Superintendent and provides daily direction and oversight to the Housekeeping and Set-up staff within the Raleigh Convention Center and the Red Hat Amphitheater.

This work includes supervision and participation in pre-event set-up and cleaning, event specific cleaning and set-up, as well as post event cleaning and breakdown in a fast-paced, even-driven environment.

The Raleigh Convention and Performing Arts Center (RCPAC) has an amazing team of people who operate four unique venues - Raleigh Convention Center, Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, Red Hat Amphitheater, and Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. Work Hours:

This position will primarily work second shift with some mornings, weekends and holidays required. Shifts will vary depending on event schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

  • Supervises staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring and coaching and disciplinary procedures
  • Plans, supervises and reviews the work of assigned crews in the area of clean-up and set-up for events, basic tool and equipment maintenance, and janitorial work and cleaning; provides support by performing advanced-level maintenance and operations work.
  • Uses event management system to locate and print room layouts and function schedules. Assigns staff to coordinate room set and clean for event functions. Coordinates and schedules resources for maintenance and operations of assigned projects, events, responses to weather or unplanned events, and/or other departmental/functional needs; monitors timelines and adherence to schedules
  • Conducts inspections and monitors progress, safety and/or completion of work; performs quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with established procedures, standards and/or regulations; identifies and initiates resolution of issues; follows up on corrective actions to ensure proper work completion.
  • Assists in the training and development of staff on equipment, safety and operational practices and procedures.
  • Maintains and oversees inventory of materials, tools and supplies; researches product and expense information; initiates replacement of required inventory; prepares and maintains records and documentation related to assigned operational area.
  • Ensures proper scheduling to minimize downtime and disruption to facility event activity and overall operation.
  • Works extended/irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as needed and determined by events.

Typical Qualifications

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; 3 to 5 years experience in light to medium construction equipment operation, or related work

OR

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted

Work Environment and Physical Effort:

Work Environment:

Work is typically performed in an outdoor environment, construction site, and in a vehicle. Employees may occasionally work in a street environment (near moving traffic), confined space, warehouse environment, or shop environment.

Work Exposures:

There is frequent exposure to extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees), moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles and loud noises. Work is this position is occasionally exposed to individuals who are hostile or irate, individuals with known violent backgrounds, communicable diseases and/or toxic or caustic chemicals and substances.
