    JOB DESCRIPTION

    JOB TITLE: HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR

    USUAL TIME OF WORK SHIFT: Varies with facility needs. Some full-time positions and some part-time positions.

    BREAKS: Two breaks, and one ½ hour lunch.

    OVERTIME: Seldom, as necessary.

    MACHINES USED: Household-type vacuum cleaner

    TOOLS USED: Mops, brooms, extendable wands, cleaning items

    ASSISTIVE DEVICES: Cleaning supply pushcart, rolling wire racks

    SAFETY CLOTHING/EQUIPMENT: Employee uniforms, vinyl gloves, eye protection

    SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Basic computer experience.

    DESCRIPTION OF WORKPLACE/WORKSTATION:

    The work takes place at a variety of locations at a hotel facility. The floor surfaces at the locations are cement, carpet, tile, or wood. Most of the work locations are both well-lit and temperature controlled. The Housekeeping Supervisor may be exposed for limited periods of time to various weather conditions when cleaning landings and other outdoor areas. The areas where the Housekeeping Supervisor performs most of the cleaning duties are guest rooms,bathrooms, lounges, lobbies, landings, elevators, stairways, kitchens, and offices.

    DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASKS/PURPOSE:

    The Housekeeping Supervisor's primary responsibility is to supervise the staff and cleanliness of areas at the hotel facility where guests have spent or will spend time during their stay. The Housekeeping Supervisor counts and transports linens to and from guests'rooms. He/She replenishes supplies such as drinking glasses and writing supplies in various rooms. He/She dusts furniture and equipment, polishes metalwork, washes windows, walls and doors, and empties waste baskets and ash trays. He/She vacuums carpets and upholstered furniture, and scrubs,waxes, and polishes floors using brooms, mops, and vacuum cleaners. The Housekeeping Supervisor replaces light bulbs, and replenishes bathroom supplies. He/She transports trash to the waste disposal area. The Housekeeping Supervisor may be required to move furniture, hang drapery, and roll carpet when necessary. Other duties may be required as directed by the manager or Executive Housekeeper.

    On a typical day, the Housekeeping Supervisor performs the following duties:

    1. Inspects rooms and other public areas. Sorts, counts, folds, and transports linens to various site locations.

    2. Reports Staff attendance to Executive Housekeeper. Reports disciplinary employee activities, documenting as necessary to Executive Housekeeper. Makes beds in guest rooms.

    3. Replenishes supplies (i.e. drinking glasses, writing materials, bathroom supplies, etc.).

    4. Oversees the maintenance of Company standards of operational procedures. Cleans rooms, kitchens, lobbies, lounges, bathrooms, landings, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.

    5. Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, and polishes floors.

    6. Cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.

    7. Dusts furniture and equipment.

    8. Polishes metalwork.

    9. Washes windows, walls, door panels, sills, ceilings, and woodwork.

    10. Empties waste baskets.

    11. Cleans ashtrays.

    12. Transports trash to waste disposal area.

    13. Replaces light bulbs.

    14. Bilingual preferred.

    Other duties as assigned by manager or Executive Housekeeper.

    • High school diploma; degree in hospitality management preferred but not required
    • Proven experience as an Executive Housekeeper or similar position
    • Knowledge of housekeeping policies, procedures, and best practices
    • Excellent organizational and people management skills
    • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work as a team
    • Able to multitask and prioritize and be detail-oriented
    • Flexible schedule and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
