HOUSEKEEPING SUPERVISOR

POSITION SUMMARY
Comfort Inn & Suites is seeking a dependable and hands-on Housekeeping Supervisor to help lead our housekeeping department. This position is responsible for assigning daily work, inspecting guest rooms, training and supporting employees, monitoring productivity, and ensuring that rooms and public areas meet hotel cleanliness standards.
This is a working supervisor position. The Housekeeping Supervisor will typically work two to three days each week assisting with cleaning guest rooms and will spend the remaining days inspecting rooms, supervising employees, assisting in laundry, and coordinating departmental operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead, support, and supervise housekeeping and laundry employees during daily operations.
Prepare room assignments and distribute daily and weekly projects.
Conduct a brief daily meeting to review occupancy, priorities, special requests, and operational concerns.
Inspect guest rooms for cleanliness, damage, supply levels, maintenance concerns, and temperature control.
Provide employees with coaching, training, feedback, encouragement, and recognition.
Monitor room completion and help ensure that vacant rooms are cleaned and inspected on time.
Verify stayover rooms, early departures, room status discrepancies, and special guest requests.
Communicate room status updates and discrepancies to the front desk.
Assist with cleaning guest rooms two to three days per week, depending on occupancy and staffing needs.
Assist with laundry operations when needed.
Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, productivity, and compliance with hotel policies.
Train new employees and provide ongoing training to current team members.
Help prepare schedules based on occupancy forecasts, staffing levels, and labor needs.
Participate in interviewing and selecting housekeeping employees.
Document performance or attendance concerns and communicate them to hotel management.
Ensure housekeeping carts, linen rooms, storage areas, laundry areas, and trash rooms remain clean, safe, stocked, and organized.
Monitor housekeeping inventory and report supply needs to management.
Schedule and track deep cleaning, carpet cleaning, and preventive room-care projects.
Report maintenance concerns and submit work orders to the appropriate department.
Follow all hotel safety, chemical-handling, sanitation, security, and lost-and-found procedures.
Respond professionally to guest concerns and work with management to resolve service issues.
Perform other housekeeping and hotel-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
Previous hotel housekeeping experience preferred.
Previous supervisory, lead-housekeeper, or training experience preferred.
Ability to lead employees while also performing hands-on housekeeping duties.
Strong organization, communication, and time-management skills.
Ability to provide constructive feedback and address employee performance concerns professionally.
Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar programs.
Experience with ChoiceAdvantage is preferred but not required.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced hotel environment.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction.
Reliable attendance and dependable transportation.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to frequently bend, reach, stretch, kneel, push, pull, and twist.
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
Ability to push and maneuver housekeeping carts.
Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
Ability to work around commercial cleaning chemicals and laundry products.
Ability to work in guest rooms, laundry areas, hallways, storage rooms, and other hotel areas.
SCHEDULE
This position requires a flexible schedule based on hotel occupancy and staffing needs. Weekend and holiday availability is required.
The position generally includes cleaning guest rooms two to three days per week, inspecting guest rooms, supervising and training housekeeping employees, preparing daily assignments, assisting with laundry and inventory, and coordinating room status with the front desk.
