Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Housekeeping Supervisor to oversee housekeeping, floor care, and laundry operations within a retirement community in Tulsa. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for supervising employees, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, coordinating schedules, training staff, and ensuring residents receive professional and dependable service.
The ideal candidate has previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare, senior living, or long-term care environment along with prior supervisory experience. This position requires strong leadership, organization, and customer service skills with the willingness to step in and perform housekeeping duties when needed.
Required Experience & Skills
23 years of housekeeping experience preferred, particularly in healthcare, senior living, or long-term care
Previous supervisory experience required
High school diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of professional cleaning, sanitation, and safety procedures
Strong leadership and employee coaching skills
Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Ability to schedule employees and maintain adequate department coverage
Ability to multitask and work effectively under pressure
Professional and customer-service-oriented demeanor
Reliable attendance and punctuality
Ability to work effectively with residents, employees, management, and other departments
Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred but not required
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Supervise housekeeping, floor care, and laundry employees
Coordinate employee schedules and maintain appropriate staffing coverage
Interview, train, coach, and evaluate housekeeping employees
Provide clear daily assignments and expectations to department staff
Conduct routine inspections of resident rooms and facility areas
Ensure established cleanliness, sanitation, and presentation standards are maintained
Monitor employee performance and address quality concerns as needed
Review employee timekeeping records for accuracy
Maintain inventory of cleaning products, supplies, and equipment
Assist with ordering supplies and evaluating cleaning products and equipment
Ensure resident rooms, common areas, and facility spaces remain clean, safe, and presentable
Perform housekeeping duties when needed to maintain department operations
Respond to housekeeping-related emergencies as necessary
Resident Service Responsibilities
Conduct regular facility rounds to monitor cleanliness and resident satisfaction
Respond professionally to resident questions, complaints, and concerns
Take appropriate corrective action when housekeeping concerns are identified
Assist with new resident move-ins and explain available housekeeping services
Maintain respectful and professional relationships with residents and their families
Ensure employees provide courteous and professional service while working in resident areas
Protect resident privacy and dignity while performing housekeeping responsibilities
Leadership & Staff Development
Train new housekeeping and laundry employees
Coach staff on cleaning procedures, safety requirements, and customer service expectations
Conduct team meetings and communicate department priorities
Encourage teamwork and collaborative problem-solving
Provide employee feedback and assist with performance evaluations
Monitor staffing needs and assist with interviewing prospective employees
Promote accountability, professionalism, and consistent quality throughout the department
Safety & Sanitation Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA requirements
Maintain established sanitation and infection-control practices
Ensure cleaning products and chemicals are handled and stored appropriately
Reinforce proper use of personal protective equipment
Identify and report facility or workplace safety concerns
Ensure employees follow established cleaning and sanitation procedures
Maintain safe practices when working around bodily fluids, waste, and other potentially hazardous materials
Preferred Qualifications
Housekeeping leadership experience in a retirement or senior living community
Healthcare or long-term care housekeeping experience
Floor care experience
Laundry operations experience
Experience scheduling and supervising housekeeping employees
Knowledge of OSHA and sanitation requirements
Inventory and supply management experience
Employee training and performance-management experience
Bilingual English/Spanish skills
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, carrying, and other physical activity
Ability to perform hands-on housekeeping duties when required
Ability to move throughout resident rooms, common areas, laundry operations, and other facility spaces
Ability to safely use cleaning equipment, products, and required PPE
Work Environment
Retirement community and residential care environment
Primarily indoor work in a climate-controlled facility
Regular interaction with elderly residents, housekeeping employees, Maintenance, management, vendors, and other departments
Exposure to dust, odors, cleaning chemicals, and related housekeeping materials
May occasionally encounter bodily fluids and waste during routine housekeeping operations
Combination of supervisory, administrative, customer service, and hands-on housekeeping responsibilities
