Role: Housekeeping Team Member
Reports to: Housekeeping Supervisor
FLSA Status: Full‑time, hourly, non‑exempt
Work Location: On‑site, New Canaan, CT
Schedule: Monday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & Sunday 8:30 AM–5:00 PM (40hours)

Grace Farms is a cultural and humanitarian center in New Canaan, Connecticut, that brings people together across sectors to explore nature, arts, justice, community, and faith at the SANAA-designed River building and Barns on 80 acres of publicly accessible natural landscape.
Your day to day
- Keep buildings, offices, restrooms, and guest areas clean and neat.
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, dust, and clean different areas across the property.
- Wipe down tables, chairs, windows, glass doors, and other commonly used surfaces.
- Refill supplies such as soap, paper towels, toilet paper, coffee, tea, cups, napkins, etc.
- Empty trash with food waste and recycling bins throughout the campus.
- Clean kitchens, break rooms, refrigerators, laundry areas, and employee spaces.
- Help keep outdoor spaces tidy by cleaning furniture, walkways, and entrances.
- Wash towels, aprons, blankets, and other housekeeping items as needed.
- Organize supplies and make sure cleaning closets and storage areas are stocked.
- Assist in special cleaning projects, and other housekeeping tasks as needed.
- Report rooms or equipment requiring immediate attention to the Housekeeping Supervisor.
- Respond to radio calls for housekeeping needs which could include assistance in cleaning up of spills, leaks, stains, broken materials, restroom incidents and other housekeeping emergencies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Tasks may vary depending on operational needs and priorities.
Physical skills & Abilities
- Ability to lift and carry at least 25 lbs.
- Ability to lift and transfer up to 20 lbs. of trash with food/recycling waste.
- Required to collect, move, and dispose of trash and recycling throughout the facility.
- Available to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Able to safely use cleaning supplies and equipment such as mops, brooms, and vacuums.
- Able to wear and use a backpack vacuum (approximately 15-20 pounds) for extended periods throughout the work shift.
- Able to push/pull carts and engage in frequent walking, standing, and sitting.
- Maintain a safe work environment by following safety guidelines and proper lifting techniques.
- Perform routine, repetitive tasks while maintaining professionalism with visitors and colleagues.
- Strong attention to details and pride in maintaining clean, welcoming spaces.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to learn and take on variety of housekeeping and facility related tasks.
- Communicate effectively with all team members.
- Ability to work evenings for special events when needed.
- Basic English communication skills required to respond to instructions provided by management and radio calls from all other staff members.
Experience
- Minimum of one year of housekeeping experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Compensation range:$22.00 – $24.00 per hour
