Hospital Housekeeping Attendant
Position Overview
We are looking for a dependable and hardworking Hospital Housekeeping Attendant to help maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary veterinary facility. This position plays a critical role in supporting patient care by ensuring all areas of the hospital meet cleanliness and safety standards. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, takes pride in creating a welcoming environment, and understands the importance of infection prevention in a healthcare setting.
Qualifications
Prior experience in custodial services, housekeeping, environmental services, or a healthcare/veterinary environment is preferred.
Familiarity with cleaning products, disinfectants, and safe handling procedures.
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 40 pounds, bending, reaching, walking, and standing for extended periods.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with a team.
Understanding of sanitation practices and infection prevention measures.
Demonstrates professionalism, reliability, and compassion toward both people and animals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clean and disinfect patient care areas, exam rooms, treatment spaces, kennels, surgical areas, offices, and public spaces on a daily basis.
Follow hospital protocols for disinfecting equipment, surfaces, and non-sterile instruments.
Maintain floors and common areas through sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
Collect, remove, and properly dispose of trash and other waste materials in accordance with safety guidelines.
Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment, replenishing as needed.
Wash, dry, and organize hospital laundry, including towels, blankets, bedding, and other linens.
Identify and communicate facility maintenance concerns, safety risks, or equipment issues to management.
Assist with stocking, organizing, and maintaining supply storage areas.
Adhere to all workplace safety, biosecurity, and infection control procedures.
Support the veterinary team by helping maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming environment for clients, patients, and staff.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
Ability to work around cleaning chemicals, animals, and hospital equipment safely.
