Housing Inspector

Job Title: Housing Inspector
Location: White Plains, NY
Type: Contract
Compensation: $25.48/hr
Contractor Work Model: Onsite
Hours: 40.0 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Conduct residential housing inspections to ensure compliance with safety and housing standards
• Identify maintenance, structural, and safety issues within units
• Document inspection findings and complete detailed reports using tablets and inspection software
• Communicate professionally with tenants, property owners, and internal teams
• Determine required repairs and follow up on compliance issues
• Manage multiple inspections independently while maintaining accuracy and professionalism

Qualifications

• Experience in inspections, construction, property maintenance, facilities, or related trades preferred
• Strong customer service and communication skills, especially in challenging situations
• Comfortable using tablets, Microsoft Teams, and other technology tools
• Ability to work independently, stay organized, and adapt in the field
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
• Experience with Section 8, housing inspections, or residential compliance inspections is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent field experience preferred
• Must be able to obtain required inspection certification within 90 days of hire
