JOB SUMMARY:
Monitors the behavior and activities of clients participating in a Salvation Army housing program; guards the security the safety of Salvation Army facilities and buildings to ensure compliance with housing rules and policies and to protect the safety of staff and clients.

Monitors client's behavior and activities to ensure compliance with program, and facility rules guidelines; directs clients in a trauma-informed way of the appropriate behavior in order to stay in the program/facility.
Monitors telephones, security cameras, and fire alarm system; notifies proper authorities when emergency assistance is needed.
Monitors and assists clients signing in/out of the facility; ensures compliance with program/facility rules.
Conducts safety searches upon reasonable suspicion to ensure compliance with house rules.
Ensures all exterior and office doors are locked and secured after business hours.
Ensures that any fire hazards or unsafe conditions are reported.
Reports and investigates suspected contraband or inappropriate items which jeopardize the security, and safety of other clients, and staff and operates a breathalyzer.
Makes visual contact with residents on a regular scheduled basis; records violations of program regulations and completes required reports; notifies the Program Director in a timely manner.
Prepares and maintains client logs and records for assigned shift; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same.
Maintains confidentiality of all clients including their location, conversation, and records.
Locks and unlocks gates and main entrances as scheduled; assists residents if they are locked out of their room.
Responds to emergencies by calling for emergency services or Mobile Crisis and aids residents until help arrives.
Answers phone calls, takes messages and logs all calls properly.
Distributes to-go meals to residents who come in late after work.
Performs other related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of security practices and procedures.
Ability to influence and control human behavior and enforce security rules and guidelines.
Ability to respond to emergencies in a calm and effective manner.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred but not required,
and
six months experience working with the public with experience work in a security or social service environment preferred,
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
