Basic Function The HPHP Climbing Wall Student Assistant aids in inspection, maintenance, instruction, and events at the climbing wall. Specific duties may include:

• Monthly and/or semi-annual inspections
• Maintenance as needed
• Hold cleaning and route setting
• Assistance with special events, classes, or clinics This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time, the pool will expire, and applicants will be notified.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to top rope and lead belay
• Ability to instruct basic climbing skills, bouldering, and top roping
• Ability to lead indoor sport climbs
• Ability to climb approx. 5.9V1

Preferred Qualifications

• Ability to climb 5.10V3 or harder

• Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward, or outward

Physical Requirements of this position

• Sedentary work
• Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or consistently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body
• Sitting most of the time
• Walking and standing (Medium work)
• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Visual Acuity Requirements, including color, depth perception, and field of vision
• Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, using a computer terminal, extensive reading
