The
Professional Division of
Spherion Mid Ohio is partnering with an established Richland County manufacturer to find an
HR Assistant to join their team.
This is a
direct hire opportunity for someone who enjoys the detail and accuracy of payroll but also wants a role where no two days look exactly the same.
At the heart of this position is
payroll and timekeeping. You'll help keep weekly payroll moving accurately, serve as a go to resource for supervisors needing timecard corrections, and maintain important employee information within the HRIS system. From there, the role expands into employee support, interview coordination, company events, communications, onboarding, and the many behind the scenes details that keep an HR department organized.

What You'll Do- Support weekly payroll processing and employee timekeeping
- Review and make timecard updates, edits, and corrections within the HRIS system
- Serve as a first point of contact for supervisors needing assistance with timekeeping and payroll related changes
- Maintain accurate employee information and complete HRIS data entry
- Provide day to day clerical support including scanning, filing, document organization, and record maintenance
- Field incoming calls and help direct employee and company inquiries
- Coordinate and schedule candidate interviews
- Grow into assisting with new hire orientations and onboarding
- Help prepare and distribute employee and company communications
- Assist with employee appreciation activities, company events, and other engagement initiatives
- Coordinate food orders and event related details as needed
- Work with the company's uniform provider, including distribution, tracking, and related employee charges
- Assist with administrative portions of safety projects and initiatives
- Support benefits, workers' compensation, and other HR related documentation and data entry
- Run occasional local company errands
- Jump in on additional HR and office projects as priorities arise
What We're Looking For- At least 1 year of hands on payroll experience required
- Previous payroll, Human Resources, or HR administrative experience
- Experience working in an HRIS or payroll system strongly preferred
- Paylocity experience is a strong advantage, but not required
- PLEX experience is helpful, but not required
- Candidates from any industry will be considered, with manufacturing experience being especially advantageous
- Strong understanding of timekeeping, payroll accuracy, and maintaining employee records
- Excellent organization and attention to detail
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable working directly with supervisors and employees
- Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities and meet payroll related deadlines
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field preferred, with equivalent experience also considered
- Valid driver's license
- Bilingual skills are advantageous, but not required
Excel & Microsoft Office SkillsThis role requires more than basic spreadsheet use. Candidates should be comfortable independently using Microsoft Office, including:
- Creating and maintaining Excel spreadsheets
- Building and working with formulas
- Sorting and filtering data
- Creating PivotTables
- Using VLOOKUP and similar lookup functions
- Organizing, reviewing, and manipulating data accurately
- Creating basic reports and tracking tools
- Working confidently in Word and Outlook
Schedule & Compensation- $25.00 to $30.00 per hour , based on experience

- On site in Richland County, OH
- Anticipated starting schedule of approximately 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM or 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM
- Additional schedule flexibility may be available after training
