Position Summary: The HR Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a trusted advisor and hands-on HR resource for Verbal Beginnings' operations leadership across the organization. This role is the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, performance management, and ADA accommodation processes for all center and field staff, providing coaching, guidance, and direct support to center leaders and clinical operations teams. The HRBP works as part of a collaborative HR team and may assist with broader HR functions as organizational needs arise.
**This position is remote-based but requires regular in-person visits to VB center locations throughout Maryland and Virginia.

Responsibilities:
Employee Relations
Serve as the primary HR contact for employee relations matters across all VBC centers and field operations
Conduct thorough, objective, and timely workplace investigations, including fact-finding, documentation, and recommended outcomes
Advise and coach operations leaders on employee relations issues, corrective action, and appropriate escalation
Partner with legal counsel as appropriate on complex or sensitive matters
Maintain accurate and confidential records of all ER activity in compliance with applicable law and VBC policy
Performance Management
Guide and support operations leaders through the full performance management lifecycle, from goal setting through PIPs and separations
Assist in developing and delivering performance management training and tools for leaders
Identify trends in performance or conduct across teams and surface recommendations to HR leadership
Support consistency and fairness in performance outcomes across the organization
ADA and Accommodation Management
Manage the interactive process for ADA accommodation requests, including coordination with employees, supervisors, and outside medical providers as needed
Maintain organized, compliant accommodation records
Advise leaders on appropriate interim measures and ensure timely resolution of requests
Stay current on ADA, ADAAA, and related state law obligations
Leadership Coaching and Advisory
Build trusted relationships with operations and clinical leadership, positioning HR as a proactive partner rather than a reactive resource
Proactively identify people-related risks and recommend strategies to address them
Support leaders in building team culture, engagement, and accountability within their centers
Training and Development Support
Assist in the design and facilitation of HR-related training for managers and staff
Support onboarding and new leader orientation as requested
Contribute to the development of HR tools, templates, and resources for the operations teams
General HR Team Support
Collaborate closely with HR team members and assist with cross-functional HR needs as capacity and skills allow
Support HR projects and initiatives as directed by the Head of HR
Required
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience with demonstrated focus on employee relations and/or HR business partnering
Experience in a healthcare, human services, or similarly regulated environment
Strong knowledge of federal and state employment law, including ADA, FMLA, Title VII, and related regulations
Proven experience conducting workplace investigations
Demonstrated ability to coach and influence leaders at multiple levels
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong documentation habits
Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a remote environment
Reliable transportation and willingness to travel regularly to VBC center and field locations throughout Maryland and Virginia
Preferred
HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent)
Experience in ABA therapy, behavioral health, or a clinical operations environment
Familiarity with ADP Workforce Now or similar HRIS platforms
